Chattooga Young Farmers Cancel March Meetings

Due to school closures for COVID-19, all Young Farmer trainings for the month of March are also canceled.  Young Farmer Coordinator Lauren Jarrett says, ” I am hopeful to get both of these classes rescheduled for you in the future. We implementing distance learning for our students and I’ll send some things out for you as well. Ms. Jessica Nacole Doan, Obit (M) – UPDATED

Ms. Jessica Nacole Doan, age 37, of LaFayette, GA, died Sunday, March 15, 2020, at Parkridge Medical Center.
Ms. Doan was born December 21, 1982, in Tampa, FL, daughter of Elizabeth Miller Stokes and the late George Thomas Doan.  She was Baptist by faith and had a heart for connecting with others.  Jessica loved gardening and getting her hands into the dirt.  She also thoroughly enjoyed bargain shopping.  In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Linda Lawson; and grandfather, Wayne Miller.
Ms. Doan is survived by her sons, Eli Stevens and Malachi Doan; brother, Bobby (Amber) Farmer; sisters, Julia (Corey) Smith, Joanna Doan; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial services for Ms. Doan have been postponed and will be announced at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Providence Women’s Recovery (www.providencerecoveryplace.org).
Mason Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Ms. Jessica Nacole Doan who died on Sunday.

Public Defender Initiates COVID-19 Protocol

The Circuit Public Defender for the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit issued a statement over the weekend about protocol for the Public Defender’s Office in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic in Georgia.  David Dunn says that for the next thirty days, his office will begin implementing “social distancing protocols” which will include teleworking for office employees and no personal visits, unless specific arrangements are made ahead of time.  You can read the press release from the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Public Defender below:
