Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader has confirmed the identity of a Lyerly man who lost his life in a house fire off of Highway 114 on Thursday evening. The victim has been identified as sixty-eight-year-old Danny Ray Millican. Sheriff Schrader said that deputies, firefighters and Redmond EMS were dispatched to Millican’s residence around 7:35 PM Thursday. The sheriff says that public safety personnel made very effort to rescue Millican, but were unable to do so. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Dry Valley Baptist Church, Wayside Baptist Church and North Summerville Baptist Church are joining together for a Sunrise Service. The service will be held in the parking lot of North Summerville Baptist Church Sunday morning at 7:00 AM. Coffee and pastry will be available. Everyone is invited to attend this joint service.
