A house fire on Brooks Road, off Oak Hill – Alpine Road, left a family without a home on Friday night. The fire at a log home displaced a family of five. Several area fire departments responded to the blaze which destroyed the home. All five family members are safe, but their family says any help that can be given would be appreciated.
Summerville Police responded to a call about dogs attacking another dog on Thursday of last week. A woman was cited after it was discovered that her dogs were not vaccinated and were in a neighbor’s yard when the attack took place.
Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry is looking for someone willing to head up the county’s animal control.

The Summerville City Council will hold their regular meeting for the month of April coming up on Monday at 5 PM. The council is expected to discuss moving of utilities on the bridge over Racoon Creek on Highway 48 and will be seeking bids on relocating a high-pressure gas line at the bridge which is slated for replacement by the Georgia DOT later this year. Also, the council is expected to name two new members to the Summerville Main Street board of directors. The meeting is open to the public.

The Trion Fire Department made a total of 35 calls last month. According to the monthly report, Trion firefighters responded to four commercial fire alarms and five residential fire alarms. They also responded to a total of seven wildfires during March. Additionally, Trion firefighters worked seven vehicle accidents, two natural gas leaks and two other calls.
