The low-income home cooling assistance program opens today for home-bound and elderly households in our area. Households must meet income criteria and be responsible for paying the cost of home cooling this Summer.

A traffic stop after a failure to yield incident lead to the arrest of a thirty-three-year-old Summerville woman recently. A Chattooga County sheriff’s deputy observed a vehicle being driven by Brittany Bullard fail to yield to an oncoming vehicle near Montgomery Street in Summerville. After a traffic stop, the deputy determined that Bullard’s license was suspended. Bulldard was arrested for operating a vehicle with a suspended license and failure to maintain a single lane. Bullard was transported to the Chattooga County Jail.

The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) Drug Surveillance Unit has received increased reports of overdoses due to drugs mixed with fentanyl, particularly cocaine, methamphetamine, and counterfeit pills. Overdoses have been reported in several areas of the state over the past month.
