On Wednesday of last week, a woman called the Summerville Police Department to inform them that her vehicle had rolled into a neighbors’ block wall and had done damage to the wall. When officers arrived at the Ramey Street address, they spoke with Stephanie Toland who told them that her two-year-old child was inside the vehicle and had moved the gear shifter and the car had rolled back into the neighbor’s concrete-block wall across the street. Toland said that she was standing outside the vehicle when the incident happened. Ms. Toland told police that she wanted a report filed and would pay for the damage if it wasn’t covered by her insurance. Police also spoke with the neighbor about the situation.

Mr. James Julian “Cat” Williams, age 84 of Trion, Georgia passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022 at a Rome hospital.
Mr. Williams was born in Trion, Georgia on September 24, 1937, son of the late John Henry Williams and Pauline Ware Williams. He was retired from the Cloth Room at Mt. Vernon Mills. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and watching baseball. In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Cabe.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Betty Louise Williams; step children, Rickey and Melinda Tucker and Trena and Denny Strickland; sister, Shirley Woodall; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Ann Williams; grandchildren, Matthew Cabe, Amy and Steve Helms and Jason and Selena Tucker; 5 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Williams will be held Monday, August 29, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Spears officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Tucker, Rickey Tucker, David Lloyd, Cecil Watkins, Alvin Grogan and Steve Helms.
Mr. Williams will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 2:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
