The Salvation Army red kettles are familiar sights during the Christmas season. This year, the Salvation Army of Rome had red kettles at Trion Wal-Mart and in Summerville at Ingles Supermarket. But the Salvation Army doesn’t just help people at Christmastime, it is a year-round ministry that helps people in need.
Blood Assurance of Rome has announced that there is currently a low blood donor turnout due to winter weather conditions and the holidays, and also that they are experiencing high usage of blood supplies. Due to the urgent need for blood supplies, they are encouraging all eligible donors to make an appointment to donate today. Walk-in appointments are also welcome. Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry will be adopting a $16 million budget for the county at a meeting to be held this morning at the commissioner’s office on Commerce Street in Summerville.
A Chattooga County woman was arrested on December 20th after sheriff’s deputies found her children walking on Packer Dairy Road in the Gore area. The children told the deputy that their mother had gone to the grocery store, but that turned out to be untrue.
A Gordon County man, in a stolen car, was arrested after he rammed a deputy’s patrol car near Calhoun.
On Wednesday morning, the Chattooga County Registrars Office posted a notice on social media saying “due to unforeseen circumstance” their office would be “closed until further notice”.
A fifty-seven-year-old Summerville man was arrested on disorderly conduct charges in the early morning hours of Thursday (December 29) after several calls to police about his behavior.
