Thursday Accident At Mountain View Intersection

The Georgia State Patrol worked an accident on Thursday at the Mountain View Intersection and Highway 27.  Trooper Doug Shamblin told WZQZ News that a car driven by an elderly Trion woman attempted to cross the intersection from First Street and drove into the path of a semi truck.  The truck driver, who was from Minnesota, attempted to avoid hitting the vehicle but was unable to avoid the accident.  After striking the car the elderly woman was driving, the truck’s load shifted and the truck overturned.  A stop sign, yield sign and street sign were taken out as a result of the accident.  Neither the elderly woman or the truck driver were seriously injured.  WZQZ News will have more information when a complete report is released by the Georgia State Patrol.

Woman Arrested For Public Intoxication

A forty-two-year-old Summerville woman was arrested over the weekend for public intoxication after she caused a scene at a nearby residence.  Summerville Police responded to a call about a woman doing damage on a man’s porch.  When police arrived and spoke with the complainant, he said that the woman had been beating objects stored on his front porch and that she took off down a foot-trail before officers arrived.  Police located the woman who said that she had thrown a chair, but she hadn’t been beating anything on the man’s porch.  The woman said she was mad because the man invited her over and when she arrived, another woman was there.  Police noticed that the woman appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs and noticed the smell of marijuana.  The woman consented to a search of her backpack and officers found a quarter-pint of suspected alcohol and a suspected partially-smoked joint.  Marlisha Annette Woods was arrested on charges of public intoxication and booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
