Former Walker County Deputy Found Guilty Of Incest

A former Walker County Deputy and Chattooga County resident was found guilty of incest in Chattooga County Superior Court.  The judge in the case declared a mistrial in a portion of the criminal case against Stephen Zachary Williams after a jury deliberated on other charges against Williams that included rape, aggravated sodomy and sexual battery.   The crimes were believed to have been committed in Chattooga County. The jury unanimously voted to convict Williams on the charges of incest.  The GBI investigated the case against Williams at the request of Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson.  Williams worked for the Walker County Sheriff’s Office from 2018 until the investigation began on the incest and rape charges in 2021.  Williams can be retried on the other charges in Chattooga County Superior Court.

 

Man Arrested For Selling Drugs In Gore Headed To Prison

A forty-eight-year-old Rome man is set to turn himself in to the Floyd County Superior Court today after being sentenced earlier this week in a drug case that started with his arrest at the Dollar General store parking lot in Gore in Chattooga County.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) awarded a total of 44 projects that will have an impact on  Floyd, Chattooga, Polk, Gordon and Bartow Counties. The projects range from resurfacing and reconstruction to bridge construction and safety projects.

Car Parked In Street Leads To Drug Arrest

Summerville Police arrested two people after finding a vehicle parked on Union Street on August 29th.   According to a report released this week by the Summerville Police Department, an officer noticed the car sitting stationary in the street for an extended period of time.
