Residents across Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia are waking up to patchy dense fog this morning, with visibility in some areas dropping to as low as half a mile. The fog is expected to linger through about 10 AM, especially in spots that saw rainfall yesterday, before gradually clearing.

After the fog lifts, conditions will turn warm and somewhat humid, with afternoon highs climbing into the low to mid-80s across much of the region. While most areas will stay dry, a slight chance (around 15–25%) of isolated afternoon showers or thunderstorms remains in the forecast through Friday.

The unseasonably warm pattern will continue into the end of the workweek, with mild overnight temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s. However, changes are on the way as we head into the weekend.

A cold front is expected to move into Northwest Georgia late Saturday into Sunday, bringing a better chance for more widespread rainfall. While a few embedded thunderstorms are possible, forecasters say severe weather is not expected at this time. Rainfall totals are projected to range between a half inch to one inch.

Looking ahead to early next week, cooler and more seasonable temperatures will return, with highs dropping back into the 60s and 70s.
