Three people were arrested after investigators executed search warrants at two residences this week in Grove Oak, a rural community in neighboring DeKalb County, Alabama.

According to DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden, the DeKalb County Drugs and Major Crimes Unit carried out the searches Tuesday, August 4, with assistance from the DeKalb County Interdiction Unit.

The first search took place at 4778 County Road 429, the residence of 66-year-old Bobbi Joe Moore of Grove Oak. Authorities said Moore had previously been arrested in December 2025 following another narcotics search and was out on bond on a drug-trafficking charge.

Also at the residence were 56-year-old Stephen Dale Guffey of Grove Oak and 32-year-old Colton Blake Guffey of Fyffe. Investigators reported finding methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a large amount of cash at the home.

A second search warrant was later executed at Stephen Guffey’s residence at 2575 County Road 19 in Grove Oak. Authorities said a large quantity of methamphetamine and marijuana was recovered there.

Moore was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Stephen Guffey was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, first-degree unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Colton Guffey was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also placed on hold for the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office because of outstanding warrants.

“Illegal drugs destroy lives, tear families apart and often lead to other criminal activity,” Welden said. “I am grateful for everyone who had a hand in this investigation and for their commitment to helping keep DeKalb County a safe place to live, work and raise a family.”
