Cattle producers from across northwest Georgia will have an opportunity to expand their knowledge of herd management, nutrition, marketing and other areas of the cattle industry when the 2026 Northwest Georgia Master Cattlemen’s Program comes to Chattooga County this fall.

The program is being hosted locally in collaboration with the UGA Beef Team and will consist of a series of Monday evening sessions beginning September 14 and continuing through November 2.

Classes will begin at 6 p.m. at the Chattooga County Agricultural Center, 40 Middle School Road in Summerville.

The eight-week program will feature specialists covering a wide range of topics important to cattle producers:

  • September 14: Jason Duggin — Beef Quality Assurance
  • September 21: Dylan Davis — Evaluation & Selection; GCA Staff — Georgia Cattlemen’s Update
  • September 28: Dr. Will Secor — Beef Cattle Economics & Marketing
  • October 5: Dr. Brad Heins — Herd Health Management
  • October 12: Dr. Nancy Hinkle — External Parasites; Dr. John Worley — Facilities
  • October 19: Dr. Pedro Carvalho — Herd Nutrition
  • October 26: Dr. Pedro Fontes — Reproductive Management
  • November 2: Lisa Baxter — Forage Management

Registration costs $100, which includes a notebook, hat and meals throughout the program.

The deadline to register is September 8, and organizers encourage those interested to sign up early to reserve a spot.

Registration can be completed online through the UGA Beef Team’s Master Cattlemen’s Program website or in person at the Chattooga County Extension Office.
