Miss MaKayla Gail Hope Sims obit (M)

Little Miss MaKayla Gail Hope Sims, infant daughter of Christopher Jay Sims and Crystal MaKayla Geer, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Northside Hospital. 

MaKayla was born December 8, 2015, at Northside Hospital.  She is survived by her parents, Christopher Jay Sims and Crystal MaKayla Geer; brothers, Christian Sims and Brantlee Sims; grandparents, Darlene Geer, Jamey and Michelle Geer, Gary and Marcy Sims, Nancy and Terry Sneed; great-grandparents, Betty Rhymer, Wendall McClure, Bonnie Woodfin, Shoshannah Blalock, Jeffery Blalock, and Charles Gary Sims, Sr.  Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. 

Funeral services for Little Miss Sims will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 29, 2015, from the City of Praise Worship Center in Cartersville, GA, with Pastor Jeff Phillips officiating.  Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Christopher Sims and Brandon Geer. 

Little Miss Sims will be in state at the City of Praise Worship Center and the family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Tuesday. 

Mason Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Little Miss MaKayla Gail Hope Sims who passed away on Sunday.

Mrs. Wanda Josephine Watson Obit (C)

Mrs. Wanda Josephine “Bobbie” Watson, age 82 of Trion, Georgia, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2015 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. 

Mrs. Watson was born in Madisonville, Tennessee on March 23, 1933, daughter of the late Harvey Watson and Mary Crowder Watson.  She was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church and prior to retirement, was employed with Mount Vernon Mills for over 35 years.  Mrs. Watson loved to travel, play bingo and spending time with her family and friends, and was well known for her years as a hostess at the Round Table.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by two brothers, Osben Watson and R.C. Watson; and three sisters, Evelyn Bailey, Ocie Stakely and Ersa Yearwood. 

Mrs. Watson is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Michael Tinney; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Emma Watson; sisters, Ethelyne Murr and Peggy Holland; grandchildren, Taylor Tinney, Shane Tinney and Tiffany Bean; special niece, Patti Bailey, as well as a number of additional nieces and nephews. 

Memorial Services for Mrs. Watson will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Rickey Biddle officiating.  Private Interment will follow at a later date in Pikeville, Tennessee. 

The family of Mrs. Watson will gather at the Coffamn Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon and will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.

Man Hospitalized after Falling from Bucket Truck

Reports have now been released regarding an accident which sent a man to the hospital in Lafayette.

The subject, whose name has not been released, reportedly fell some 20 feet from a bucket truck while working near the intersection of Jones and Fortune Streets.

Lafayette City Manager David Hamilton did say that the man was not a City employee.

No additional information regarding the extent of his injuries has been released.
