Mrs. Maggie Lou Thomas obit (M)

Mrs. Maggie Lou Thomas, age 74, of Menlo, GA, died Friday, November 6, 2015, at her residence. 

Mrs. Thomas was born August 28, 1941, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Robert Paul and Ola Bartlett Copeland. She was a member of the Menlo United Methodist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Best Manufacturing where she was a member of the Best Silver Club. 

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her husband, John William Thomas; daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and John Younce; a sister, Bonnie Ruth Tucker; 5 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Thomas will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, November 8, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jody Brock officiating.  Interment will follow in the Alpine Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dan McCollum, Dale McCollum, Terry Day, Tim Day, Shaun Younce, and Matthew Parrish.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Sunday School Class of the Menlo United Methodist Church. 

Mrs. Thomas will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Sunday. 

Mason Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Maggie Lou Thomas who died on Friday.

Saturday Jail Report With Photo’s

Some Saturday Activities Postponed

 

The Summerville Renaissance Festival scheduled for Saturday, November 7 from 10-3 in Downtown Summerville at the Summerville Depot Area will go on as scheduled, as well as the 8:00 pm Rome Shakespeare Festival's performance of "A Mid Summer Night's Dream" scheduled for the Dandee Denson Auditorium. The doors will open for the general public at 7:30 PM, with $15 General admission tickets will be sold at the door.

The North Georgia Cruiser's Cruise-In Scheduled for Saturday, November 7 Has Been Postponed Until Saturday, November 14. It Will Run From 11-3 pm. The Cruiser's will have the drawing for the $1,000.00 give -a -away at this event.

The Menlo Fall Festival that was scheduled for today has been postponed until next Saturday, November 14, 2015.

Chattooga Indians Youth Wrestling Club Registration

Registration for the Chattooga Indians Youth Wrestling Club, will be held next Tuesday and Thursday, November 10th and 12th at the new training facility – which is located beside the Boys & Girls Club on Highway 27 in Summerville – starting at 6:00 each evening.

Sign ups are for those between the ages of four and fourteen.
