Thursday, July 30, 2015 – 5:00 pm

Join us on Thursday, to celebrate the opening of our new Chattooga High School!  We will be cutting the ribbon at 5:00 pm, then everyone is invited to tour the school.  Chattooga County is so proud to unveil the new facility and we encourage all of our Chamber members to attend.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Summerville Middle School Meet the Teacher

Summerville Middle School will hold its Meet The Teacher Night on Thursday, August 6 from 4:30 – 6:30. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to attend.

 

 

Mrs.Fannie Sue (Phyllis) Padgett

 MRS.FANNIE SUE (Phyllis) PADGETT age 64 of Rossville, Georgia, formerly of Chattooga County, passed away Wednesday evening, July 22, 2015. Mrs. Padgett was born January 20, 1951, to the late Houston Foy and Bessie Carolyn Stansell Palmer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings: Jimmie Ruth Sweat, Marilyn Jean Palmer, Bobby Palmer, and Kimberly Dawn Blackmon.

Survivors include her husband Frank Padgett and son Barry Padgett both of Rossville; sisters: Kathy Brown of Trion, Becky Schilling, Linda Orr, and Martha Reynolds all of Summerville, Marsha Upton and Pat Elsberry both of Lyerly; brothers: Michael Palmer of Summerville and La Don Palmer of Dalton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 25, 2015, at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. John Mann and Rev. Harold Helton officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery; active pallbearers Justin Blackmon, Rob Johnson, Stacey Reynolds, Chris Key, Josh Key. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home Friday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M.

Mrs.Mae (Frances) Morris(W)

MRS.MAE FRANCES(PARKER) MORRIS – Age 47, of Sidney,Ohio passed away Monday July 13, 2015 at her residence after a long battle with cancer. Mae was born in Summervile, Gergia to the late Eugene Parker and Lucille ( Cooper) Parker on August 28, 1967. On November 10 1997 she married to Terry Tyrone Morris and was preceded in death by two brothers, Freddie McCutchins and Joe Nathan McCutchins, and one sister, Linda Wiggins.Mae is also survived by her husband, Terry Tyrone Morris;son,Sidney Lavett Johnson, Jr, grandchildren, Sienna Lee Johnson, Samaria  Lazia Johnson and Sidney Lavett Johnson; a host of many nieces,nephews,cousins, other relatives and friends.The Morris Family would like to express their heartfelt "Thanks" to all the caregivers at the Cancer Treatment Center Of American, in Chicago,Illinois, for the compassionate care that Mae received throughout her illness. Funeral Service will be held on Monday,20,2015 at 12:00 noon. Trion High School Students may rent lockers and parking spaces on Thursday,23. The cost for lockers and parking will be $25.00each.

Trion Pre-K Applications Available

Trion Pre-K is still accepting applications through July 24th. Children must be 4 years old by September 1st.

Summerville Pre-K Orientation

The 2015-2016 Summerville Pre-K Parent Orientation will be held today @ 12:30 in lunchroom located in The Chattooga County Education Center. This is the former Summerville Elementary School building. Pre-K is funded by the Georgia Lottery and free to area four-year olds. For more information call 706-857-3490

Mr.James Edward Tidmore (M)

James Edward Tidmore, age 77, of Summerville, GA, died Thursday, July 16, 2015, at his residence.

 

Mr. Tidmore was born June 1, 1938, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Turner Hugh and Parlie Brown Tidmore.  He was a member of the Harvest Worship Center, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Mount Vernon Mills.  Mr. Tidmore was also a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a Paratrooper.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Henry Joe "Junior" Tidmore, J. B. Tidmore, and Robert Nathan Tidmore; and a sister, Emma Frances Tidmore.

 

Mr. Tidmore is survived by his wife, Imogene Patterson Tidmore; son and daughter-in-law, Jamy and Marcia Tidmore; a daughter, Tammy Tidmore Lay; a sister, Emma Lee Tidmore; grandchildren, Turner Lay, Jared Lay, and Zach Mildren; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Tidmore will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 18, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phil Minter and Rev. Butch Tanner officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be grandsons, nephews, and Howard Adams.

 

Mr. Tidmore will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M Friday, July 17, 2015.
