Mrs.Mildred June Marshall (M)

Mrs. Mildred June Marshall, age 84, of Lyerly, GA, died Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

 

Mrs. Marshall was born June 20, 1931, in Broomtown, AL, daughter of the late Lee Roy and Sally Catherine Todd Wade.  She was a member of the Emanuel Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Mohawk Industries.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Howard Marshall; sons, Charles Marshall and Frankie Marshall; a brother, Lee R. Wade; sisters, Bonnie Faye Hurley and Lillie Mae Jennings.

 

Mrs. Marshall is survived by her son and daughters-in-law, Steve and Ginger Marshall, Kathy Marshall; daughters and son-in-law, Gail and Dennis Moseley, Darlene Smith; a sister, Catherine Elizabeth Brewster; grandchildren, Kim Baker, Angie Harrell, and Richard Mobbs; great-grandchildren, Xavier Dekarske, Abby Baker, Trini Harrell, Jerzie Mobbs, Kristin Mobbs, and Haley Studdard; and a special person, Megan Mobbs.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Marshall will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 15, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Cason officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mount Bethel Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Steve Marshall, Dennis Moseley, Richard Mobbs, Johnny Marshall, Virgil Tudor, and Donnie McSpadden.

 

Mrs. Marshall will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 14, 2015.

Mrs. Nancy Ellen Kelley Obit (M)

Mrs. Nancy Ellen Kelley, age 58, of Gaylesville, AL, passed away Friday July 10, 2015, in Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Kelley was born July 17, 1956, in North Carolina, the daughter of William James and Clara Crowe Pell.  She was a home maker and a member of the Desoto Church of Christ.

Survivors include husband, Darrell Kelley, children, Sandy Sharp, Sally & Shaun Wheat, Leah & Joe Patterson, sister, Kathy & Larry Gray, grandchildren, Patrick Coots, Maggie Coots, Emily Wheat, Hunter Wilbanks, Thomas Manning.

Memorial service will be held 3 p.m. CST Sunday at the Desoto Church of Christ with Minister Larry Kirby officiating. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. CST Sunday until the service hour at Desoto Church of Christ on county road 89 Mentone, AL.

Mrs.Pauline Ruth McDonald (M)

Mrs. Pauline Ruth McDonald, age 92, of Summerville, GA, died Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Cherokee County Health and Rehabilitation Center.

 

Mrs. McDonald was born February 26, 1923, in Cedar Bluff, AL, daughter of the late Otis Roy and Oshie Ann Steele Richardson.  She was a member of the Horizon Baptist Fellowship, and prior to her retirement, worked as a Nursing Assistant for 24 years at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John "Tom" McDonald.

 

Mrs. McDonald is survived by her son, John T. McDonald, Jr. of Edina, MN; a brother, J. L. Richardson of Gadsden, AL; and a sister, Kathleen Mills of Centre, AL.

 

Graveside and interment services for Mrs. McDonald will be held at 12:00 Noon (E.S.T.) Wednesday, July 8, 2015, from the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Scott Quinn officiating. 

 

Mrs. McDonald will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 P.M. (E.S.T.) Tuesday, July 7, 2015.

Mrs. Elaine Holloway Mitchell obit (ER)

MRS. ELAINE HOLLOWAY MITCHELL, age 66, of Railroad Circle, Summerville, Georgia, Pennville Community, passed away Friday afternoon in a Rome hospital. She was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on April 20, 1949, to the late Arnold and Martha Janette Wilson Holloway. Mrs. Mitchell was retired from the sort & grind department of Mohawk Mill and a member of the Harbor Light Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by husband, the late Harvey Eugene Mitchell on August 23, 2008.

Surviving are daughters & spouses, Denise & Gary Rose of Chattanooga and Christy & Christopher Crump of Summerville; sons & spouses, Joey & Gretchen Mitchell of Ringgold, Dennis & Tammie Mitchell of Lebanon, Tn., and Jason Mitchell of Summerville; sisters, Imojean Cook, Peggy Pierce, Deviah Gilliland all of Summerville , and Jody Morrison of Lyerly; grandchildren, Kai Mitchell, Corey & Josie Lamb, Bruce, Shawn, & Austin Hicks; Five Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

MRS. ANN CURRENT, age 88, of Cottonwood Street, Summerville,

Georgia passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015, morning in a Rome hospital.

 Born in Berryton, Georgia on May 16, 1927, She was a daughter of the

late Arthur P. and Martha Chapman Rich.  Mrs. Current attended the

Living Waters Ministeries, and was retired textile creeler.
 
           

Surviving are husband, Tony Eugene Current; son, Billy Ray Hunter of

Summerville; brothers, J. T. Rich of Summerville and David Rich of

Trenton; seven Grandchildren, seven Great Grandchildren; several Nieces

and Nephews also survive.
 
            Funeral services will be held Friday,

 July 3rd, at 4:00 P.M. from Living Waters Ministries, with Rev. Tony

Current and Rev. Billy Wright officiating, interment in Summerville

Raymond “Max” Maxwell Swinford, age 66, of Rome, GA, a former resident of Oakview Nursing  & Rehab of Summerville, passed away Monday June 29, 2015, in Redmond Regional Medical Center.
 
Mr. Swinford was born December 31, 1948, in Rome, GA, the son of the late Herbert & Frances Pittard Swinford.  He was retired from Beckhard Steel and was a member and deacon of Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church.
 
Survivors include his wife, Diane Stanley Swinford, step-children, Randy & Lorretta Brock, Wes and Jeannine Brock, step-grandchildren, Gavin & Emma Brock, Jessica & Gary Dowdy, step-great-grandchild, Shelby Dowdy, sister, Theresa Murray, brother, Greg Swinford.
 
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Wednesday July 1, 2015 from Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church with Rev. Clyde Hampton officiating with entombment in the Oaknoll Mausoleum.  Active pallbearers will be Josh Swinford, Drew Murray, Brent Murray, Wes Brock, Gavin Brock, Randy Brock, Jonathan Swinford, and Shawn Parham.  Honorary pallbearer will be David Young.

Mr.Raymond Melton Norris (M)

Mr. Raymond Melton Norris, age 69, of Centre, AL, died Monday, June 22, 2015, at the Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL.

 

Mr. Norris was born May 7, 1946, in Trion, GA, son of the late Eugene Jackson and Mary Melena Hawkins Norris.  He was retired from the United States Navy and served in the Vietnam War.

 

Mr. Norris is survived by his aunt, Barbara L. Norris; uncle, Bill Hawkins; cousins, Jerry and April Pellegrini, Cory Morris, Cassie Scarborough, and Barbie Morris.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Norris will be held at 2:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) Thursday, June 25, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery with full military honors.

MRS. EDITH M. McCOLLUM, age 86, of Trion, Georgia passed away Saturday evening at her residence. A native of Fayetteville, Tennessee, She was born to the late Tom and Zula Hall Morrow on February 16, 1929. Mrs. McCollum was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Clifford “Tip” McCollum, June 25, 2014.
