The Trion Follies are making a comeback! It has been almost 20 years since the Trion Follies last took place.The Follies are at the Trion High School Gymnasium on Saturday, November 17.

The original Trion Follies date back to the days of the late  Ethel Simmons. Simmons directed the Trion Follies with help from the Trion High School Band Boosters and band directors in the 1950s. Usually, each grade prepared a skit to be performed each year. Most of the costumes were hand-sewn by local seamstresses or mothers. The follies continues for more than 20 years.

     The Trion Band Booster Club is looking for family oriented acts of all ages to perform on Saturday, November 17. If you have a special talent or ability to perform, complete a registration form as soon as possible.

Registration forms are available at Summerville Florist or you can download a form at www.trioncityschools.org. In years past, the Follies have presented many talented bands, singers, dancers, womanless weddings, comedians, and even some memorable non-talented acts. Currently, they have several musical acts (country, rap, acoustic), comedians, a magician and possibly a special visit from Adam Sandler’s Lunch Lady.

     Advance tickets are $5 can be purchased at Trion City Schools, Suggs Valley Fresh Market, Summerville Florist, Lucky’s in Menlo, or the County Commissioner’s Office in Summerville. Tickets at the door will be $7.

An arrest warrant has been taken out for an employee of Walmart that reportedly admitted to the store's loss prevention specialist that she has stolen between $700 and $800 worth of items from the store since she was hired in March. Amber L. Jones reportedly was caught on video taking items without paying for them, most recently between October 13 and 24. Johnnie Smith turned the video over to the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department on November 6. According to Sheriff's Department Captain Ken Anderson, the 25-year-old Curran Street, Summerville, woman has taking the items little by little, here and there over a seven month period. When confronted with the video evidence Jones reportedly admitted to the thefts, according to Anderson. 

A man who owns property on Weems Road reported a theft on Wednesday. According to the report by the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department, James Trammel said the property is vacant and someone cut a fence on his dog kennel and stole several items in and around the kennel. He said the incident occurred in the last week. Items missing include: a tractor boom pole, Snap on tool box, several pieces of tin metal roofing, a Coleman camping stove,  a skill saw, a band saw, a Chevy Ram head exhaust manifold, and miscellaneous tools, all valued at about $2700. The damage to the kennel is estimated at $50. Investigator's were notified, according to the report. 

The write-in votes for Ales Campbell have now been counted at the Walker County Elections Office and the total number bearing her name was 5,726. There were 125 other write-in votes, mostly nonsense names. The elections board reported they always get Mickey Mouse and this time, someone added rock star Ted Nugent to the write-in list. The incumbent commissioner Bebe Heiskell, received 13,380 votes in the complete but unofficial returns. That gave Heiskell 70 percent of the qualified votes. She won every precinct except Lafayette and Center Post, and those were close.

Lafayette Police are asking the public's help in locating a specialized wheelchair that was stolen over the weekend. The chair has a speckled frame and black nylon seat. It belonged to a local community service volunteer. Anyone with information on the stolen chair may contact the Lafayette Police Department of Walker County Sheriff's Department.

    In all 66.6 percent of Chattooga County's registered voters cast ballots in Tuesday's General Election. That's higher than Walker and Catoosa Counties. Walker County's rate was 54.8 percent, while Catoosa County voters turned out at 57.7 percent. Both Chattooga and Walker counties went heavily for Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney. Congressman Tom Graves was also popular in both counties. Chattooga County voted against the Charter School Amendment, while Walker County voters mirrored the state result, voting in favor by 56 percent. Statewide more than 3.8 million Georgians voted in Tuesday's General Election, a turnout of 71 percent

Catoosa County is no longer dry on Sunday. On Tuesday voters passed Sunday Sales measures in the unincorporated areas of the county, as well as the city of Ringgold. That includes both package sales and liquor by the drink at restaurants. Only the City of Fort Oglethorpe now remains dry on Sunday. 

A Catoosa County family has located their missing daughter and she is safe. College athlete Marissa Patterson had gone missing in East Ridge, Tennessee, after an accident involving her car Last Friday. She was located in Alabama with her boyfriend, Robert Morris. He was arrested on outstanding charges from the hit-and-run accident and a probation violation. Marissa's damaged vehicle was found in East Ridge, but relatives say the pair went missing and neither could be reached on cell phones for three days.
