A burglar apparently was having a bad hair day, to the point of needing haircare products. A burglary at a local beauty shop was reported on Thursday. According to the Sheriff's Department report, Katherine Ray, of Katherine's Beauty Shop, 12227 Highway 27, Summerville, told deputies that someone entered the beauty shop and stole several items between November 2 and Thursday. Reported missing is: a plastic outside chair; a flower pot; five perms; eight tubes of hair color; two bottles of setting lotion; a blow dryer; six curling irons; a basket containing scissors, razors, brushes and combs; one pint of creme developer. A concrete table set with toad stools located outside the shop also was taken. The incident was turned over to investigators.
A Former Catoosa County Deputy has been arrested on multiple sex charges. Stephen Crossen was fired from the force nine months ago. He's been indicted on 14 different charges related to the alleged sexual abuse of a 16-year-old girl. Nude photos resulted in the charges which include sodomy and sexual exploitation. The indictment states that Crossen distributed explicit photographs of the girl. The teen involved reportedly is the daughter of one of Crossen's friends, according to the Sheriff's Department Investigation. Crossen was fired when the GBI was called in to investigate the charges. Crossen had worked for the Catoosa County Sheriff's Department for five years. Before that, he was a jailer for Walker County
Charges are pending against an Atlanta woman involved in a Rome traffic fatality Tuesday. The accident took the life of 21-year-old Brooke Michelle Anthony of Armuchee. The other two female drivers involved in the three-vehicle wreck were hospitalized at Floyd Medical Center, according to report. Reports indicate that 27-year-old April Nichelle Gales, 27, of Atlanta, was the driver of a GMC cargo van, and Nina Nelson, 25, of Rome, was driving a Ford Explorer. Charges against Gales are pending, according to a Rome Police Department report. Nelson
reportedly suffers from two broken legs, broken rigs and a punctured lung and Gales reportedly has broken ribs, a punctured lung and a busted spleen. The wreck occurred on the bypass near Grizzard Park, closing traffic in the westbound lanes just after 3 p.m. on Tuesday. Deputy Coroner Gene Proctor said Anthony, of 480 Turkey Mountain Road, Armuchee, was pronounced dead in the Floyd Medical Center Emergency Room at 5:30 p.m. that day.
A special guest will be visiting Teen Type 1, a support group for teenagers with diabetes, at their next meeting. Morgan Patton, a member of the professional cycle racing team Type 1, will be speaking and demonstrating cycling skills.
Members of Team Type 1 all have diabetes, participate in bike races all over the world. Their message is simple: diabetes does not have to keep anyone from accomplishing anything they want to do.
The next meeting for Teen Type 1 will be Monday, Nov 12 at 6 p.m.. The group meets at Floyd healthcare Foundation’s conference room at 420 E. Second Ave., Suite 104, Rome. While the teenagers are meeting there is also a time for parents to encourage one another as they care for their child with diabetes.

A traffic accident in front of Walmart on Highway 27 Thursday has claimed one life, according to the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department. .
The two-vehicle wreck occurred around 4 p.m. blocking traffic heading in both directions. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating and so far no names have been released.
An arrest warrant has been taken out for an employee of Walmart that reportedly admitted to the store's loss prevention specialist that she has stolen between $700 and $800 worth of items from the store since she was hired in March. Amber L. Jones reportedly was caught on video taking items without paying for them, most recently between October 13 and 24. Johnnie Smith turned the video over to the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department on November 6. According to Sheriff's Department Captain Ken Anderson, the 25-year-old Curran Street, Summerville, woman has taking the items little by little, here and there over a seven month period. When confronted with the video evidence Jones reportedly admitted to the thefts, according to Anderson.
A man who owns property on Weems Road reported a theft on Wednesday. According to the report by the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department, James Trammel said the property is vacant and someone cut a fence on his dog kennel and stole several items in and around the kennel. He said the incident occurred in the last week. Items missing include: a tractor boom pole, Snap on tool box, several pieces of tin metal roofing, a Coleman camping stove, a skill saw, a band saw, a Chevy Ram head exhaust manifold, and miscellaneous tools, all valued at about $2700. The damage to the kennel is estimated at $50. Investigator's were notified, according to the report.
The write-in votes for Ales Campbell have now been counted at the Walker County Elections Office and the total number bearing her name was 5,726. There were 125 other write-in votes, mostly nonsense names. The elections board reported they always get Mickey Mouse and this time, someone added rock star Ted Nugent to the write-in list. The incumbent commissioner Bebe Heiskell, received 13,380 votes in the complete but unofficial returns. That gave Heiskell 70 percent of the qualified votes. She won every precinct except Lafayette and Center Post, and those were close.
Lafayette Police are asking the public's help in locating a specialized wheelchair that was stolen over the weekend. The chair has a speckled frame and black nylon seat. It belonged to a local community service volunteer. Anyone with information on the stolen chair may contact the Lafayette Police Department of Walker County Sheriff's Department.
