Ms. Janie Etchison, age 64, of 240 Fourth Street, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 27th at 1 PM at Thomas Chapel A.M.E., Church Lyerly, GA, with Rev. V. T. Harden and other ministers officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 12 noon until the service hour. Interment will follow in Pond Springs Cemetery, Holland, GA.  The family will receive friends at the residence, 240 4th Street.

Mr. James Don Lively obit

Mr. James Don Lively, age 71, of Mentone, AL, died Thursday, August, 25, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Lively was born July 24, 1940 in Summerville, GA, the son of the late James Luther and
Ruby Pearl Rose. He was a retired pipe fitter at John Deere Harvaster and a UWA Union Member.
He attended Pentecostal Worship Center. Mr. Lively was a veteran of the United States
Navy. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Lively.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Gamble Morgan Lively; children, Hugh Don Lively and Elizabeth
Lively; brother and sister-in-law, Hugh Lee and Barbara Lively; grandchildren, James Michael
"Mike" Lively, Jennifer Marie Bros, Robert Anthony Bros, J. C. Bros; great-grandchildren, Owen
Micheal Lively, Kyan Anthony Bros, Ava Lynn Marie Bros, Makayla Bros, Jake Micheal Lively, and
Dia Rae Bros; niece, Kelly Hester; nephew, LaDon Lively.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Andy Hutchins officiating. Burial will be in Bankhead Cemetery.
Mr. Lively will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from
1:00 until 3:00 p.m Saturday.

Mr. Charles Junior Woods obit

Mr. Charles Junior Woods, 81, Mentone, AL, died Friday, August 26, 2011 at Floyd Medical Center.
Mr. Woods was born July 5, 1930, in Trion, GA, the son of the late Charlie B. and Bernice Finister
Woods. He was retired from Riegel Textile. Mr.Woods was a veteran of the United States Army,
having served in Korea.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Woods; daughters, Shirley McPherson, Diane Norton, and
Donna Peace; sister, Marlene Burton; 7 Grandchildren; and 8 Great Grandchildren.
Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday, August 28, 2011 at West Hill
Cemetery with Rev. Jack Greene officiating.

Mrs. Doris Alice Reed obit

 

Mrs. Doris Alice Reed, age 65 of Summerville, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Floyd Medical Center.
Mrs. Reed was born in Trion, Georgia on January 16, 1946, daughter of the late Rosa Dale Boyd Floyd. She was a member of the Berryton Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina Reed and brothers, Terry Winters and David Hughes.
Mrs. Reed is survived by her children, Wayne Reed, Marty Reed, Gary Reed, and Terry Reed; brothers, Mickey Hughes and Tim Winters; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Reed will be held Monday, August 22, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Skates and Rev. Don Mason officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Wallin, Brett Reed, Lamar Mann, Justin Little, Kyle DeAngelo and David Thompson.
Mrs. Reed will lie in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday morning from 9:00 A.M. until the funeral hour.

Mr. George Bowman, age 69, of Summerville, GA, passsed away Tuesday August 9, 2011,
at the residence of a special friends, Pam & Marty Middleton of Summerville, GA.
Mr. Bowman was born June 15, 1942, in Rockmart, GA, the son of the late William Mitchell
and Daisy Mae Eskew Bowman. He was a retired farmer and a member of the United by
Faith Baptist Church.
Survivors include a step-daughter & husband, Lucy & Stephen Broyles, 2 granddaughters,
Lenea Broyles and Akayia Younce, a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Younce, brothers, Jimmy
Bowman, Arthur Bowman, special friends, Pam & Marty Middleton, Evelyn Willingham,
Gene Day.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday August 10, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. at the Silver Hill
Cemetery with Rev. Barry Brown & Rev. John McGraw officiating with interment in the Silver Hill
Cemetery. Active pallbearers, Gene Cavin, Robert Tidmore, Marty Middleton, Gregg Banks,
David Tyson, R.C. Boyd.
Friends are asked to meet at Silver Hill Cemetery Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Mrs. Mary Lou West

Mrs. Mary Lou West, age 72, of Bethel Church Road, Summerville, GA, passed away Tuesday July 26, 2011 in Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. West was born June 18, 1939, in Jackson City, AL, the daughter of the late John F. and Iokeau Mountain Roach. She was a retired textile worker and a member of the Bethel Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irby Cleveland West.

Survivors include her children, Randy and Christy West, Summerville, GA, Darlene and James Hatcher, Trion, GA, Vicky and Scott Webb, Chattanooga, TN, brothers, Davey and Joann Roach, Lyerly, GA, Larry and Barbara Roach, Calhoun, GA, sisters, Sharon Williamson, Trion, GA, Debbie and Robert Elrod, Summerville, GA, 6 Grandchildren, 5 Great-grandchildren.

Mrs. West was cremated at her request and the family will have a time of fellowship and remebrance at the Mason Funeral Home Community Room, Thursday, July 28, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Ruby J. Baggett, age 94, of Lyerly, GA, the Oakhill Community died Friday, July 15, 2011 at
Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Baggett was born July 11, 1917, in Cherokee County Alabama, was retired from Mohawk
Carpet, and a member of the Oakhill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a Sister, Nell Stevens, and several Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday July 17, 2011, at the Oakhill United Methodist
Church with Rev. Jack Gillespie and Rev. Bill Adams officiating with interment in the Church
Cemetery.
Mrs. Baggett will lie in state at Oakhill United Methodist Church and the family will receive
friends Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
