Mr. William “Billy” Mull, Obit (M)

Mr. William “Billy” Mull, age 89, of Summerville, GA, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
 
Mr. Mull was born December 18, 1927, son of the late Fred and Lena Mull.  He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed by Mount Vernon Mills.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nell Mull; sisters, Dorothy Mull and Betty Westbrooks; and a grandson, Jamey Mull.  He was faithful to his church and his Lord, and he loved to garden.
 
Mr. Mull is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Roger Farmer, Linda and Jackie Bowman; son, Gary Mull; grandchildren, Gerald Mull, Angie Mull, Jeremy Bowman, Matthew Farmer, Michael Farmer, Leann Webb, and Caleb Mull; and 9 great-grandchildren.
 
Funeral services for Mr. Mull will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 3, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Wilborn and Rev. Ralph Sumner officiating.  Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Jeremy Bowman, Matthew Farmer, Michael Farmer, Dustin Webb, and Jimmy Mull.
 
Mr. Mull will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Saturday.

Mrs. Linda Gorham Burkhalter, Updated Obit (ER)

MRS. LINDA GORHAM BURKHALTER, age 71, of Hair Lake Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017, at her residence.  She was born December 9, 1945, a daughter of the late William McKinley and Ida Wisner Gorham.  She was preceded in death by her husband, the late James H. Burkhalter on December 20, 2016.
 
Surviving are her, son & companion, James Grant Burkhalter and Wendy Thomas Ash, Grandchildren, Cayla Burkhalter, Trace Burkhalter, and Evan Burkhalter, Great granddaughter, Ashlynn Burkhalter, Sisters Estelle Johnson and Catherine Hawkins, Brother & sister-in-law, Garvin (Barbara) Gorham, sisters-in-law, Joann Derusha,  and Ruth Alexander; special friends Margaret & Howard Dillard; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 2nd, at 11:00 A.M. from Graveside in West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Mickey Skates officiating.  Clifford Hughes, James Hughes, Tommy Hughes, Freddy Hughes, David Ledbetter, and Donald Blackwell Visitation will be Friday from 10 A.M. until the hour of service.

The Chattooga County Republican Party Cancels June Meeting

The Chattooga County Republican Party has cancelled the June meeting which was previously scheduled for June 1st at the Senior Center due to the timeliness of the GA State GOP Convention. Regular meetings will resume in July.

 

Kindergarten Enrollment To Be Held At Chattooga County Enrollment Center

Kindergarten enrollment will be held at the Chattooga County Enrollment Center for any students that will be eligible to attend Kindergarten for the upcoming 17-18 school year. Registration dates are June 15th and 16th, from 8 a.m to 4 p.m. To be eligible the child must turn 5 before September 1, 2017. Please bring the required following documents to register, Birth Certificate, SS card, Eye, Ear and Dental Form, Immunization form, and proof of residence for Chattooga County (must be a utility bill or rent/lease agreement ). All these documents are required at the time of enrollment. You may come by the enrollment center Tuesday-Friday 8-4, to pick up registration packets or print them from the Chattooga County School District website. Click on the K-12 Enrollment Center link on the side of the page.

 

Mrs. Clarice Lorene Witt Littlejohn, Obit (M)

Mrs. Clarice Lorene Witt Littlejohn, age 92, of LaFayette, GA, died Friday, May 26, 2017, at her residence.
 
Mrs. Littlejohn was born June 11, 1924, in Trion, GA, daughter of the late Earl McKinley Witt and Mary Lillian Pearl Bruce Witt.  She was a member of the Waterville Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with the Georgia Glove Mill.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Reuben Oliver Littlejohn; sister, Annie Bell Witt Mann; and brothers, J. C. Witt and Raymond Witt.
 
Mrs. Littlejohn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Aaron Sprayberry; brother and sister-in-law, Leroy and Lydia Witt; 2 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Littlejohn will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 27, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Patterson officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. 
 
Mrs. Littlejohn will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the service hour on Saturday.

Town of Trion Memorial Day Closings

The Town of Trion Business Office, Gas Department, Maintenance Department, and Recreation Department will be closed on Monday, May 29, 2017 for Memorial Day.  Garbage normally picked up on Monday will be picked up on Tuesday, May 30, 2017.  All other days will be on regular schedule.
