Mr. Floyd Gurney Wells, Obit (M)

Mr. Floyd Gurney Wells, age 80, of Summerville, GA, died Thursday, February 9, 2017, at his residence.
Mr. Wells was born April 19, 1936, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Charles and Ollie Wells.  He attended Faith Temple Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Riegel.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Kirby Wells.
Mr. Wells is survived by his son, Kim Daniel Wells; daughter, Donna Wells; sister, Betty Lewis; grandchildren, Charles Daniel Wells, Maggie Busby; great-grandchildren, Carrie Ann Wells, Charles Jack Wells.
Graveside and interment services for Mr. Wells will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, February 11, 2017, from the Summerville Cemetery with Rev. Billy Wright officiating.  Pallbearers will be Daniel Wells, Chucky Hartline, David Dickson, and Bo Lewis.
Mr. Wells will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Saturday.
Mason Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Floyd Gurney Wells who died on Thursday.  

Mrs. Ruth Milner Housch, Obit (C)

Mrs. Ruth Milner Housch, age 98 of Oneonta, Alabama, formerly of Summerville, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017. 

 

Mrs. Housch was born in Zebulon, Georgia on May 27, 1918, daughter of the late John H. and Bessie Cannafax Milner.  She was a graduate of the Godron Military College, and was married in1941.  Mrs. Housch was a devoted homemaker and most beloved Mother, and resided in Georgia until 1999, when she moved to Alabama to be closer to her children.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Housch, was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Andrew Jackson Housch, Sr. in 1982 and eight brothers and sisters.

 

Mrs. Housch is survived by two children, a son, Jack Housch and his wife, Diane of Oneata, AL, and a daughter, Helen Housch of Huntsville, AL; 4 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside and Interment services for Mrs. Housch will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Pennville Cemetery with Rev. David Autry officiating.  Interment will follow in the family plot.

 

Mrs. Housch will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour.

Mr. A. L. Norton, Jr. Obit (ER)

MR. A. L. NORTON, JR., age 86, of Norton Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017, evening in a Rome hospital.  Native to Chattooga County, Georgia, Mr. Norton was born to the late Arthur Lee Norton, Sr. and Mattie Katherine Dodd Norton on June 10, 1930.  He was a member and Deacon of Four Mile Baptist Church, retired supervisor @ Georgia Rug Mill, and was preceded in death by his wife the late Mary A. Allen Norton, a daughter the late Mary Angelia Norton, sisters, the late Mozelle Edwards and Ava Mountain, and brothers the late Sidney Norton and Elgin Norton.

Surviving are daughters, Freida (Tommy) Dover, Teresa Scott, Melody (Mark) Sentell; sons, Grant (Ginger) Norton and Vic (Stephanie) Norton; grandchildren, Danny Scott, Jr., Tommy Dover, Jr., Jeff Dover, Alex Sentell, Mikaela Norton, Josie Norton, James Gilleland, Jessica Stricklin, Jennifer Gilleland; several Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 12th, at 2:00 P.M. from the Four Mile Baptist Church with Rev. Sanford Deberry, Rev. Joel Smith, Rev. Doyle Kelly, and Dr. Charles Bishop officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers Tommy Dover, Jr., Jeff Dover, Alex Sentell, Jo Stricklin, Gary Norton, Phil Mountain, and Jeff Edwards; Honorary Pallbearers Jon Payne, Scott Norton, Johnny Edwards, and members of Four Mile Baptist Church.  The Family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 P.M. from the Funeral Home.
