Chris Taylor, Obit (C)

Mrs. Chris Taylor, age 60 of Lyerly, Georgia passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025 at a Rome hospital.

Chris was born in Rome, Georgia on February 27, 1964, daughter of the late Thomas Glenn Westbrook and Mildred Lee Landers Westbrook. She was a member of the River in Centre, Alabama and was retired from Mohawk Industries. Chris never met a stranger, and took in many children over the years. She enjoyed church activites and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Chris was preceded in death by a sister, Dinky Warren and a brother, Thomas “Butch” Westbrook.

Chris is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Slater and Amanda(Kevin) Rhinehart; brother, David(Cindy) Westbrook; grandchildren, Hunter Rhinehart, Wyatt Roberts, Alexis(Kirby) Slater, Seth(Shanrail) Slater, Chase(Sadie) Slater and Shaylia(Bryan) Black; great grandchildren, Mason Slater, Colton Slater, Weston Flatt and Ronin Flatt; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Chris will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 5:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Mr. Ed Flener officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Coffman Funeral Home Saturday afternoon from 3:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.

Teresa Elaine Vaughn Ray, Obit (M)

Mrs. Teresa Elaine Vaughn Ray, age 77, of Cedar Bluff, AL, died Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Ray was born June 5, 1947, in Menlo, GA, daughter of the late George Vaughn, Sr. and Glennie Irene Anderson Vaughn. She had attended Menlo First Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was a self-employed beautician.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her husband, C.W. Ray; siblings, Evelyn “Ebb” Jennings, George “Bean” Vaughn, Charles “Dick” Vaughn, Clyde “Wink” Vaughn, and Dorothy Joyce “Dot” Wright.

Survivors include her son, Cassey (Megan) Ray; daughter, Mandy (Mark) Ballard; brother, Pete Vaughn; sisters, Bettye “Bet” Parker, Ann “Liz” Salyers; grandchildren, Connor Ray, Ella Ray, and Ginna Ray.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow in Weiss Lake Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Bud Willis, Rickey Wheeling, Ricky Sumner, Tyler VanHorn, Dickie Vaughn, and Spunkey Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be John VanHorn, Greg Martin, Jane Canada, Cindy Mitchell, the Staff of Cherokee Village in Centre, AL, and the Staff of Oakview Health and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Ray will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Tuesday.
