Four Mile Baptist Church Homecoming service will be observed Sunday, September 15th, The church is located at 2755 Wildlife Lake Rd. -Just Off HWY. 100 South of Summerville, GA

On this special day the worship service will begin at 10:30 A.M. with Singing by Living Faith Quartet from Cullman, AL  Bro. Rickey Biddle will be Preaching, lunch will be served following the service.

Then on Monday Sept. 16th – Wednesday Sept. 19th – at 7:00 PM each evening, Bro. Shad Smith will be Preaching.  SPECIAL SINGING – Every Service, Bro. Joel A Smith, Pastor, and Bro. Daniel Smith, Choir Director invites Everyone to attend.

Mactine Bankston, Obit (M)

Mr. Mactine Bankston was born August 27, 1947, in Summerville, Georgia to the late Christine and Malcolm Bankston.

He graduated from Chattooga High School in 1966. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1967-1969, and there he received a Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Purple Heart, and an Expert Rifleman Badge.

On Sunday, August 18, 2024, God called him home to eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings, Calvin Byron, Lola Mae Byron, Jack Byron, Maebell Morman, Betty Bankston, Bobby Bankston, Benny Bankston, and Jessie Bankston.

He leaves to cherish his memories three loving children, Christopher L. (Natasha) Bankston, Tabitha Bankston, and Dyneshia Bankston (Dewayne) Elder; one brother, Jessie James Bankston; one sister, Doris Shepherd; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mactine has always been full of life. His loveable spirit will forever dwell in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, August 24, 2024, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Bankston will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Saturday.

Edward C. Hunter, Obit (M)

Mr. Edward C. Hunter age 84 of Subligna, GA passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at a Rome, GA hospital.

Mr. Hunter was born March 29, 1941 in Summerville, GA to the late Ed and Florence Hartline Hunter. He was a farmer, avid reader, and a veteran of the United States Army.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his siblings, Robert, Roy, and Martha Hunter.

Survivors include his son, Tim Hunter; sisters, Virginia Wade and Fran Mount; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In accordance with Mr. Hunters wishes, there will be no formal services.
