Summerville First Baptist Church VBS Monday June 17th through Thursday June 20th

The Summerville First Baptist Church will be having VBS Monday June 17th through Thursday June 20th from 6pm until 8:45pm each night.  Classes will be available for children from 3 years old through 12th grade.  All 3 year olds must be potty trained.  A light dinner will be served each night along with Bible study, recreation, music, crafts and fun!  Everyone is welcomed to attend.

Mountain View VBS June 1st

The Mountain View Baptist Church will be having their VBS “Building Faith” on Saturday June 1st at 10am.  The church invites everyone out for a day of food, fun and fellowship.  If you need transportation please call 706-506-3005.  The Pastor, Kevin J. Gerald Dewayne Teague, Obit (M)

Rev. Gerald Dewayne Teague, age 72 of Mentone, AL passed away Monday, May 27, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Rev. Teague was born in Menlo, GA to the late Grady and Mary McGinnis Teague. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of the American Legion Post 0215, and Valley Head Lodge 394. Rev. Teague was the pastor of Sardis Baptist Church for over 30 years, and he pastored several churches in Georgia, Alabama, and Alaska. He was also retired from the City of Summerville water department.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, R.D. Maples and Billy Teague.

Survivors include his loving wife, Fredia Teague; son, William (Lala) Teague; daughter Virginia Applebaum, siblings, Larry (Joann) Teague, L.C. (Elenor) Teague, and Nancy Teague; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Rev. Teague will take place at 11:00 EST Thursday, May 30 at the Chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Howell and Rev. Barry Peppers officiating. Interment with Military Honors and Masonic Rights will follow at AMI cemetery with the grandsons and nephews serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 EST at Mason Funeral Home.

William Steve “Bilver” Willingham, Obit (C)

Mr. William Steve “Bilver” Willingham, age 70 of Trion, Georgia passed away Monday, May 27, 2024 at his residence.

Steve was born in Summerville, Georgia on January 1, 1954, son of the late Wilburn Owen Willingham and Faye Copeland Willingham. He was a member of the Central Avenue Baptist Church and Trion Lodge #160 F&AM; and was a retired truck driver for Mt. Vernon Mills and most recently was employed with Complete Cycle of Rome. Steve had been a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, and had worked with the former Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home. He enjoyed playing guitar, collecting trains, gardening and working in his yard, but his greatest enjoyment was working for the Lord and leading young people to the Lord. In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by a brother, David Willingham.

Steve is survived by his wife, Sheila Pollard Willingham; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny and Christina Dodd and Kevin and Michele Dodd; sisters, Sandra Burrage, Wanda England and Candi Willingham; honorary brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Wanda Pollard, Harold and Lynn Pollard, and Darryl Pollard; special Niece, Ginger(John) Faulker; special Nephew, Jabo(Jannie) Burrage; nephew, Steven Reynolds; grandchildren, Levi(Caitlin) Dodd, Franki(Nate) Culberson, Cheston(Tiffany) Dodd, Cameryn Dodd, Travius Dodd and Blayke Dodd; great grandchildren, Bryleigh Dodd, Gunner Dodd, Greyson Dodd, Kaine Culberson, Rose Culberson, Elisha Dodd and Kamden Harris; and a special friend, Scott Parris.

Funeral Services for Steve will be held Friday, May 31, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the Central Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Hampton, Rev. Brandon Bishop and Rev. Harold Pollard officiating. Interment will follow in the AMI Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Joe Johnson, Tommy Busbin, Jabo Burrage, Kayden Burrage and Heather Burrage. Honorary Pallbearers will he the Central Avenue Man Church; Grant and Kendra Latta and Polly and Cecil Parris.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Coffman Funeral Home. On Friday, Steve will lie in state at the Central Avenue Baptist Church from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
