Linda Gail Short Hazlewood, Obit (M)

Mrs. Linda Gail Short Hazlewood age 57 of Gaylesville, AL was completely healed of cancer Sunday, August 6, 2023, and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mrs. Hazelwood was born a true coal miner’s daughter April 8, 1966 in Middlesboro, KY to the late Charles and Ruby Barnett Short. She was employed by Compassus Hospice and enjoyed farming with her husband Steve, southern cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She loved living life to the fullest and faithfully serving the Lord and sharing her love and her faith with others.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her father & mother-in-laws, Rev. William D. and Phyllis Buell Hazlewood; brother-in-law, Levi Shackelford, and her sister-in-law, Alberta Short.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Steven Hazlewood; son, Matthew Hazlewood; daughters, Kimberly Gilbert and Kayla (Joshua) Hester; siblings, Randle (Joyce) Short, Carl (Brenda) Short, Devauda (Dana) Mullins, Ruby (James) Parker, Wanda Shackelford, Bartie (W.K.) Sampson, and Roberta Arnett; 6 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Hazlewood will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, August 10, 2023 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Hazlewood and Rev. Steve Hazlewood officiating. Interment will follow at AMI cemetery with Matt Hazlewood, Josh Hester, and Jacob Mealer serving as pallbearers.

Family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 until the service hour.

Maggie Lee Pearsey Canada, Obit (M)

Mrs. Maggie Lee Pearsey Canada age 89 of Gaylesville, AL passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023 at her residence.

Mrs. Canada was born September 1, 1933 in Jamestown, AL to the late Milton and Nora Lewis Pearsey. She was retired from Mohawk Industries and was a lifelong member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. She loved her family, flower gardening, and cooking.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Auburn Canada; sons, Gary & Ricky Canada; along with several siblings.

Survivors include sons, Timothy (Karen) Canada, and Jerry (Karen) Canada; daughters, Diane (Paul) Reynolds, and Nancy Buckhead; brother, Kenneth Pearsey; sister, Joan McKelvey; 12 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Canada will be held at 3:00 Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Briggs King, Rev. Ronald Berry, and Rev Chris Hearne officiating. Interment will follow at Moseley Cemetery with grandsons and great- grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Charlotte Ann Rutledge, Obit (M)

Mrs. Charlotte Ann Rutledge, age 80, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at her residence.

Mrs. Rutledge was born December 7, 1942, in Chattoogaville, GA, daughter of the late Hugh L. and Eva Parkison Fleming. She was a faithful member of Bible Mission Christian Center, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Century Glove.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rutledge was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Rev. Jerry Rutledge; son, Greg Rutledge; brothers, Bobby Fleming, Junior Fleming, and James Fleming; sister, Dot McLemore; granddaughter, Ashley Rutledge; great-granddaughters, Shayla Rutledge and Kendall Rutledge; and son-in-law, Lamar Millican.

Survivors include her sons, Donny Rutledge (Mary Ann Blackwell), James (Jennifer) Rutledge, Jonathan Rutledge, and Jason Rutledge; a daughter, Pam Millican; sister-in-law, Mary (Robert) Hughes; daughter-in-law, Cindy Jaye; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rutledge will be held at 3:30 P.M. Saturday, August 5, 2023, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Larry Reynolds and Sherra Turner officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be her friends and the members of Bible Mission Christian Center.

Mrs. Rutledge will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Saturday.

Mrs. Eradee T. Rape, age 77, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Rape was born July 21, 1946, in Jackson County, AL, daughter of the late Ernest and Margie Murphy Timmons. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Rape was also a loving and devoted mother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Rape; sisters, Effie Tapp, Lois Bell, Nina Tapp; brothers, Ernest Teen Timmons and Buddy Timmons.

Mrs. Rape is survived by her daughter, Shirley Rape.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, August 4, 2023, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Howell officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview South Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dillion Smith, Steve Smith, David Tapp, Robert Rape, and Paul Myers. Honorary pallbearers will be the G-Hall Staff of Oakview Health and Rehabilitation.

MS. DEBBIE DEAN WEAVER, age 63, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023, in a Rome Hospital. She was born in Summerville, Georgia to the late Rev. W. H. Dean and Helen Garmany Dean Reynolds, on June 5, 1960. Debbie was a member of the Chattooga High School class of 1978, a member of Chapel Hill Full Gospel Church, was retired from the Weave Shop of Mount Vernon Mills and loved her Georgia Bulldogs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Betty Dean Norton, brothers, Jerry Dean and Sonny Dean, and step father Harley Reynolds.

Surviving are daughter, Tracie (Shane) Smith; son, Kevin (Amanda) Bailey; grandchildren, Bailey Rowlls (Hunter Teems) and Isabella Bailey; sister, Cecelia (Cecil) Laney; several Nieces and Nephews; special friend, Benny Humphreys.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Sanford Deberry officiating, interment in the Family plot of Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers Ray Laney, Mike Dean, Gary Norton, Ronnie Stephens, Kelly Henderson, and Don Reynolds. Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of Chattooga High School Class of 1978. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Mrs. Corsica Tierra Johnson, age 29, of Summerville, GA, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Advent Health Redmond.

Mrs. Johnson was born February 1, 1994, in Rome, GA, daughter of Donna Elizabeth Covington and the late Terry McArthur Adams.

In addition to her father, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her grandmother, Rose Helen “Sis” Adams; grandfather, Ben Covington; great-
grandmother, Geneva Darden; and aunt, Patricia Covington.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, Jamal Johnson; daughter, Takiya Adams; mother, Donna Covington; brothers, Zach Christopher, Justin Reynolds, and T.J. Reynolds.

Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 5, 2023, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel. Flower bearers will be Terar, Marlie, Ragene, Kiyah, Xageria, and Paige.

Sammy Leon White, Obit (ER)

MR. SAMMY LEON WHITE, age 64, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Saturday afternoon. A native of Chattooga County, He was born to the late Aubrey and Martha Jean Tidmore White on October 27, 1957. Mr. White was a heavy equipment operator. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Nora Jean Ledford White on September 11, 1990.

Surviving are sons, Jeffery (Todd) White and Michael White; grandchildren, Daisy White, Shay White, Austin White, Bryce Blackmon, Kaitlyn Bowman, Kristin Copenhaver; great grandchildren, Shamieyan Smith, Leighton Bowman, Rosalee Bowman, Depharrah Smith, and Braxton Copenhaver.

Memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 A.M. from Graveside in West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Harold Helton officiating. The Family will receive friends at The Funeral Home, Saturday from 10 A.M. until the hour of service.
