Mr. Jerry Ray Corbin, Obit (M)

Mr. Jerry Ray Corbin, age 74, of Summerville, GA, passed away Thursday November 10, 2022, at AdventHealth Redmond.

Mr. Corbin was born October 2, 1948, in LaFayette, GA, the son of the late Lee F. and Nellie A. Hill Corbin. He was a graduate of Shorter College and was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and attended the Adult Sunday School Class. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills and Stansell’s Furniture and enjoyed spending his time engaged in woodworking and helping others.

Survivors include his wife of over fifty years, Betty Wooten Corbin, son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Staci Corbin, daughter and son-in-law, Sonya and Jack Ledford, a brother, Floyd Lee Corbin, sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye and Ray Wooten, and Kathleen and Tommy Silvers, sister-in-law, Maggie Corbin and four grandchildren, Brinley, Brock, Bryant and Mollie Corbin. He was predeceased by brothers, Ralph Corbin, George and Marie Corbin, Lloyd Corbin and a sister, Francis and Ed Lanier.

Funeral services will be held Sunday November 13, 2022 at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Casey Bramlett officiating. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be, Jamie Mitchell, Brandon Wooten, Rodney Wooten, Terry McPhail, Billy Stewart, David Corbin, and Kevin Woods. Honorary pallbearers will be, TFBC Sunday School Class, Phillip and Joyce Cantrell, Larry and Phyllis Stansell, Terrell and Susan Baker, Rick and Judy Woods, Diane Skelton, Doug Jones and Central Office Personnel of Mt Vernon Mills.

The family will receive friends Sunday November 13, 2022, at Mason Funeral Home from noon to 2 p.m., the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Jerry, the family asks that donations be sent to Hackerman-Patz House at Sinai Hospital, 2434C W. Belvedere Ave., Baltimore, MD 21215, a facility dear to the Corbin family.

Mr. James Randall “Randy” Ledford, Obit (C)

Mr. James Randall “Randy” Ledford, age 76 of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, November 08, 2022 at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, South Carolina.
Randy born in Trion, Georgia on September 26, 1946, son of the late Fred Ledford and Dorothy Brown Ledford. He was a former Master Mason, Shriner, a dedicated Georgia bulldog fan, and a professional at telling a good joke to get a laugh. Randy was president of operations for 7 Hills Transport in Cartersville, GA., until his retirement. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Randy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Georgia Karen “Spookie Chamlee” Ledford; son and his fiancé, Shawn Ledford and Kayla Gates; grandson Relic Ledford; He is lovingly remembered by his sister Cindy Parks of Trion, Georgia, his brother Terry Ledford of Cape Coral, Florida, and by all of his family and anyone who was blessed enough to call him a friend.

Funeral Services for Randy will be held Monday, November 14, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Terry Toles, Chris Toles, Eric Toles, John Collette, Ray Henson and Buford Fox.

Randy will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.

Mrs. Lois Jean Holder, Obit (M)

Mrs. Lois Jean Holder, age 84, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, November 7, 2022, at Advent Health Redmond.

Mrs. Holder was born February 28, 1938, in Jamestown, AL, daughter of the late James Woodrow and Jewell Lucille Jones Campbell. She was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Imperial Bondware.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William Hugh “Bill” Holder; a son, Phillip Holder; and a grandson, Matthew Holder.

Survivors include her daughters, Vicky Reece, Carla (Lynn) Stockburger; a brother, Alfred Campbell; sister, Maxine Campbell; 8 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 12, 2022, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Hayes and Rev. Preston Moore officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adam Reece, Heath Hammond, Nathan Reece, Chad Stockburger, Lynn Stockburger, and Jerral Ingle. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Jean Pursley Strawn, Obit (M)

Mrs. Jean Pursley Strawn, age 89, of Lyerly, GA, died Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Strawn was born November 1, 1933, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Talmage DeWitt and Annie Mae Pettyjohn Pursley. She was a member of New Hope South Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Echols Appliances. Mrs. Strawn enjoyed reading the Bible and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Harvey Strawn; son, Robert Holland Strawn; sister, Dorothy Lenderman; granddaughters, Kristy Nichole Erwin, Mary Louise Bishop; and great-granddaughter, Miriam Otting.

Survivors include her son, Marcus DeWitt Strawn; daughter, Regina Lynn Strawn Vaughn; step-daughter, Gail Strawn (Paul) Daniel; sister, Shirley Mae Floyd; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, November 10, 2022, at New Hope South Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Abercrombie officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope South Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Preston Hogue, Butch Newton, Dakota Dodd, Lee Armstrong, Wyatt Strawn, and Tyler Bishop. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of New Hope South Baptist Church.
