Norman Manson Cooper, Obit (C)

Norman Manson Cooper, age 68 of the Mountain View Community in Trion, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022 in a Rome Hospital.

Norman was a humble, rough around the edges, but would give you the shirt off his back, kind of guy. He enjoyed working on older cars and being rowdy during his younger years. After retirement he enjoyed being a lounge lizard and enjoying the day on his front porch, where he took pride in figuring out how he could annoy or pester his wife of 48 years. He flew on a plane for the first time when he was 62 and took up kayaking at 66. He spent the best years of his life with some great friends at Mt Vernon Mills and could barely hold it together from laughing so hard as he would retell the stories of the antics the maintenance boys would do to pick on each other, especially when they found out his hatred of snakes or rats. His smile and laugh was infectious but you knew when he meant business. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son. He will be greatly missed but we, as his family, know he’s rejoicing in Heaven. Norman was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Manson Cooper; father, Bobby Joe Cooper; brother Bobby Labron Cooper; Niece, Amber Gilbreath; great granddaughter, Ravyn Jane Neal; Sister-in-law, Louise Cooper and a brother-in-law, Bobby Maton.

Norman is survived by his wife, Kathy Cooper, daughters and spouses Rebecca (Michael) Carico and Breezy (Brandon) Henderson; mother, Betty Cooper; brother, Mickey Cooper; honorary son Chad (Brittany) Butler; sister-in-law, Debbie Cooper; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Norman will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Rickey Biddle and Rev. Ralph McWhorter officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Steve Dutton, Randy Cooper, Morgan Laney, Aaron Simpson, Brian Green, Tommy Cooper. Honorary pallbearers will be the Mt. Vernon Mills maintenance department, Keith Lowe, Rex Knight, Sonny Durham, Lamar Harris, Jerry Timmons, Eddie Timmons, Mike Bartlett, Danny Galloway, Buck Brown, and Ralph Summerlin.

Norman will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
