Every summer, Georgia has a burn ban in place for fifty-four counties, including Chattooga and surrounding counties in Northwest Georgia. The Georgia EPD says that the ban is necessary to protect air quality in the Atlanta metro area.

A Chattooga County man with a long history of drug arrests was sentenced to thirty years in prison last month in Chattooga County Superior Court. Larry Joe Dooley, a five-time convicted felon, received the sentence from Superior Court Judge Kristina Cook Graham. The sentence is to be served with parole. WHAT: Weather permitting, crews will be resurfacing a portion of I-75 overnight Wednesday and Thursday. The work will close the two left northbound lanes. Motorists should expect traffic delays during the resurfacing.
WHEN: Wednesday and Thursday, September 18 and 19, from 7 p.m. until 4 a.m. each night
WHERE: The left two northbound lanes of I-75 will be closed between mileposts between 325 and 327. The exit and entrance ramps will remain open.
