


Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) has awarded approximately 1,200 certificates through the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3), an organization established to train and educate future skilled workers for productive careers.

A Chattooga County man with a long history of drug arrests was sentenced to thirty years in prison last month in Chattooga County Superior Court. Larry Joe Dooley, a five-time convicted felon, received the sentence from Superior Court Judge Kristina Cook Graham. The sentence is to be served with parole. A LaFayette man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Friday on multiple charges including an outstanding warrant from Tennessee.

WHAT: Weather permitting, crews will be resurfacing a portion of I-75 overnight Wednesday and Thursday. The work will close the two left northbound lanes. Motorists should expect traffic delays during the resurfacing.

Walker County voters will be given the opportunity to expand alcohol sales to Sundays in the unincorporated areas of the county. Two questions will appear on the ballot in November as a referendum.

The overall number of degrees awarded by University System of Georgia (USG) institutions in FY2024 increased by 1.8% over the previous fiscal year, reaching a new all-time high of 76,571 degrees conferred annually.
