AdventHealth Medical Group at Trion is hosting the AngioScreen bus today from 8 AM until 3 PM. The AngioScreen bus will be parked at 160 Central Avenue in Trion.
The Summerville City Council will hold their regular meeting for the month of July coming up this evening at Summerville City Hall, located on Georgia Avenue across from Summerville First Baptist Church. On the agenda, the council will hear about the purchase of $13,684 worth of water meters from Utility Solutions and Automation. Also, the council will be discussing building inspection fees and approving equipment purchases for the Summerville wastewater treatment plant. The council will also be asked to approve the purchase of two patrol cars for the Summerville Police Department from Prater Ford in Calhoun. Also, the council will be looking at modifying the $500 cemetery service fee. The meeting will get underway at 5 PM and the public is invited to attend. The Summer meeting of the Chattooga County Historical Society will be held next week on Sunday, July 14th. The topic of this quarter’s meeting will focus on the historic Tooga Theater in downtown Summerville. The Tooga first opened its doors in 1947 and continued in operation as a movie theater for over forty years. The building then served as the headquarters for the Chattooga County Shrine Club until it was purchased by the county in 2015 by former Commissioner Jason Winters. The meeting will be held on Sunday, July 14 at 2 PM at the Historic Summerville Depot. Meetings are open to the public.
The Rome Police Department and Floyd County Sheriff’s Office closed areas around Riverside Park on Friday evening due to a person in the area experiencing a mental health crisis and armed with a gun.
The Summerville Fire Department recently took delivery on a new Marion Firetruck. The fire department has now listed their oldest engine on Gove Deals Dot Com. The truck they are selling is a 1989 E-One Ford Pumper truck. The truck was taken out of service in June. According to local fire department officials, “(the truck) Cranks, Runs, and Drives.
