Trion Students Can Pick Up Items From Their Lockers On Thursday

Students in Georgia will not be headed back to school this year, but Trion City Schools will be allowing students to drive by the school and school faculty will retrieve items from their lockers and bring it out to the vehicle.  The locker contents will be bagged up and brought to the students outside the school.  All persons picking up items should remain in their car and the bag will be carried to your vehicle.  Students can come by this Thursday, April 23rd.  The school is staggering times for students to pick up the items.  Seniors can pick up their locker contents from 9 AM – 10:30 AM; Juniors from 10:30 AM until Noon; Sophomores from Noon until 1:30 PM and Freshmen from 1:30 PM – 3 PM.

Summerville Looking To Recoup Losses From Purchasing Trion Water To Supply Hays State Prison

The City of Summerville has been purchasing water from the Town of Trion to supply drinking water to Hays State Prison, but the city has been losing around $3,600 per month since the agreement with Trion was reached.

Georgia National Guard Offering Drive In COVID-19 Testing This Weekend In LaFayette

A Georgia National Guard contingent, the Walker County Health Department, and Walker County EMA will oversee free drive-up, self-swab, COVID-19 test clinics for any health care, public safety, and EMS workers Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Walker County Health Department, 603 E. Villanow  Street, LaFayette, GA. Persons to be tested must show ID clearly identifying themselves as one of these types of workers, remain in their vehicles, and do their own nasal swabbing after receiving instructions. There are no county-of-residence or employment-location restrictions. Persons tested will be notified of results in about 72 hours.
