In the latest round of numbers from the Georgia Department of Public Health released this past week, there were 95 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide.  That brings the total number of Georgia residents who have lost their lives to COVID-19 at 33,679 people.  There have been 6,873 deaths ruled “probable” COVID-19 deaths.  There were 3,039 new cases of COVID-19 statewide last week, with 91 of those coming from Northwest Georgia.  Chattooga County posted 6 new cases.  The Georgia Department of Public Health reports COVID-19 statistics weekly.

Summerville Police were called to investigate a case of stolen medication on Marvin Street recently.  According to a report released this week, police spoke with Rose Ingle who said that her medication, along with a $10 bill were stolen from a safe in her bedroom.  Police say that there was no forced entry into the complainant’s apartment, but that the safe showed signs of being pried open by someone.  The complainant advised police of one other person who had a key to her apartment.  The incident was turned over to an investigator with the Summerville Police Department.

Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton says that the State of Georgia has new Boys & Girls Club tags coming soon.  Hampton said that the tags are not available in her office just yet, but you can order one and receive a temporary tag to drive on until your new Georgia Boys & Girls Club tag comes in the mail.  The initial cost for the tag is $80 and then $55 to renew the tag each year, plus tax if applicable.  A portion of the fees goes to the Alliance of Boys and Girls Club here in Georgia.
