Blood Assurance is pleading for donors after a serious decline in donations during fall break for many area school districts. Over the course of the last week, the nonprofit experienced a 90% reduction in donations, compared to the week before. As of Monday, Oct. 17, it had just a one-day’s supply of O-positive, O-negative and B-negative blood units available for distributionto more than 70 regional medical facilities.
After being diagnosed with a rare flesh-eating bacterial infection from a 2012 zip-lining accident, Georgia native Aimee Copeland found herself fighting for her life. As the doctors did what they could to save her, they had to amputate both of her hands, one foot, and much of one leg. A local Walmart pharmacy technician is being accused of stealing from her employer on several occasions. According to Walmart, sixty-four-year-old Walmart employee Pamela Diane McGraw stole from the store eight different times between July and August of this year. The case was investigated by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office. McGraw is accused of placing items in a bag and walking out of the store without paying for them. On one occasion, McGraw was allegedly seen on video taking a drug she had stolen from the pharmacy. McGraw is facing charges of shoplifting, fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance and possession of a Schedule IV drug.
Another nationally-known auto parts store is coming to Chattooga County. O’Reilly Auto Parts has announced plans to build a new store at the former Hardee’s location at 10424 Commerce Street in Summerville.
