The City of Summerville is being asked to do more to help with the upkeep of the Summerville Cemetery. A group called Friends of The Summerville Cemetery came to the last Summerville City Council meeting to request that the city appropriate more funds to provide for maintenance at the cemetery.
The body of a Northwest Georgia woman was found at a construction sight on Saturday, according to a press release from Acworth Police. The woman was identified as forty-year-old Amanda Sharpe of Bartow County. Sharpe’s body has been sent to the Cobb County Medical Examiners Office to determine the cause of death. Acworth Police are still investigating and are asking for the public’s help with information. You can read a press release from Acworth Police below:
Northwest Georgia high school students will have an opportunity to speak with representatives of Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s (GNTC) industrial programs about the benefits of learning a skilled trade during Industrial Career Day on Friday, Oct. 28, at the Floyd County Campus in Rome.

Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton says that her office has sent out over 700 tax bills to people who purchased real estate in 2022. The tax commissioner says those bills went in the mail this week, and the bills are also now able to be viewed on the tax commissioner’s web site. Property taxes in Chattooga County are due on December 1st. Tax bills for other property owners were sent out previously. Senator-Elect Colton Moore (R) isn’t happy with PayPal. The online payment platform says that they mistakenly released an update to their policies that would have fined people up to $2,500 for spreading misinformation.
Dollar General Corp. and Dolgencorp LLC – operator of more than 18,000 Dollar General discount stores in 47 states – has again ignored federal workplace safety standards, this time identified during inspections at four locations in Alabama, Florida and Georgia. The company faces $1,680,216 in proposed penalties after these inspections, a portion of the more than $9.6 million in total initial penalties the company has received since 2017.
