The Labor Day Weekend flood closed businesses and wrecked havoc on downtown Summerville. One of the businesses affected heavily by the flood waters was one of Chattooga County’s favorite places to eat.
After the Labor Day Weekend flood, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp declared an emergency in Chattooga County. That declaration opened the door for the state to provide assistance to Chattooga County Public Works for road and bridge repairs following the flood.

WQCH Radio in LaFayette reports the Georgia State Patrol and several local law officers participated in the chase of a reckless driver which started in the morning traffic near Roper in LaFayette, Tuesday.
Summerville Police were called to a local bank last week after a woman became irate in the drive-thru. The woman claimed that Truist Bank had given her phony money when she had done a previous transaction. The complainant showed the responding officer a fake $100 bill that she said the bank had given her. There was no indication in the police report that there was any proof that the money came from the bank.
The City of Summerville water customers have water flowing once again and the boil water notice was lifted on Wednesday afternoon of this week, but the city’s water system is still going to need some costly repairs after the water filter plant on Raccoon Creek was buried in flood waters.
