The City of Summerville says that they will know more today after a contractor visits the water treatment plant today, but there is a possibility that water could be restored to Summerville water customers by the end of the week.
Flooding behind the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday morning
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp is scheduled to be in Chattooga County today to tour the flood ravaged area and talk about assistance for the county as the community still struggles with the aftermath of the Labor Day weekend flood.
After the flooding in Summerville over Labor Day weekend, Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton is doing her best to make sure taxpayers are able to still do business, despite the fact that her office remains closed.
A Woodland Avenue, Summerville man was arrested and booked into the Chattooga County Jail on Saturday after police say that he was arguing with a woman and then flipped a cigarette towards the woman. Police were called to the residence after the woman called 911 to report the incident. The complainant told police that she and Logan Abram Delaney had been arguing and that Delaney had yelled at the woman and then flipped the cigarette on her. Delaney admitted to police that he had been yelling and the woman and that he had threatened her before flipping the cigarette. Delaney was booked into jail on disorderly conduct charges.
LaFayette Police arrested a homeless woman after she was reported “screaming” a two local places of business.
The Rome Floyd NAACP, along with the state NAACP, the Red Cross area coordinator for Northwest Georgia, and the Red Cross are seeking donations of water for those impacted by flooding in Summerville.

For the past two days, Lucky’s in Menlo has been distributing tractor-trailer loads of water to residents in need. With the announcement on Tuesday afternoon that the City of Menlo has exhausted their reserve supply of water in the system’s reservoir, more Menlo residents will be needing water. Nikki Ballard with Lucky’s in Menlo told WZQZ news on Tuesday evening, that Lucky’s plans to distribute free water to those in need for the rest of the week. Nikki Ballard said, “We are doing all we can to assist the Menlo area, as well as those that need water in Summerville.”
