Woman Bitten By Dog On Roberts Street In Summerville

A Summerville woman reported a dog bite last week after she went to her cousin’s house to get a cigarettes.  According to a report released yesterday, Kayla Pierce told a responding deputy that she had gone to her cousin’s house on Roberts Street and when she came into the yard, a black and white border collie bit her on the calf of the leg.  A responding deputy spoke with the woman’s cousin, Stephenson Pierce, he told the deputy that he had put the dog in a cage after it bit his cousin.  Animal control was called to the scene and took the dog to be quarantined for ten days, which is standard policy.

Trion Man Found With Drugs In LaFayette

Over the past weekend, a Chattooga County man was arrested in LaFayette after police found he had an active arrant and then found him to be in possession of drugs. According to reports, officers in LaFayette stopped thirty-six-year-old Zachary Alexander Rosser of Trion for driving on an expired tag.  Police found that Rosser had an active warrant in Chattooga County.  They then discovered that Rosser had syringes in his pocket.  Rosser then told police that he had “dope hidden in his crotch”.  Rosser was arrested and charged with drug possession and was booked into the Walker County Jail on Saturday.

Sheriff Working With Trion Police Concerning Cemetery Vandalism

Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader says that there has been more vandalism reported at a cemetery in the north end of the county.   Sheriff Schrader told WZQZ News on Wednesday afternoon that several tombstones have been knocked over at a cemetery in Trion.  The sheriff says that his investigators are working with investigators from the Trion Police Department to share information and see if there is a connection between the incidents of vandalism.  The sheriff says that several private citizens stepped forward to offer the $500 reward that is being offered to anyone with pertinent information about the vandalism at a cemetery on Spring Creek Road this past weekend.

Local GOP Provides Lunch For Law Enforcement

The Chattooga County Republican Party provided lunch for local law enforcement on Wednesday, July 27th. The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department, Summerville Police Department, and Trion Police Department enjoyed this appreciation meal which was prepared in their honor.
