Welcome Hill Homecoming

Welcome Hill Baptist Church will be having their Homecoming on July 31st beginning at 10:30a.m. Special singing will be brought by Michael Lee Stancil and Brother Tony Samples will be bringing the message following the singing. A Covered Dish meal will be after the service. Everyone is invited. Come bring a covered dish and join the Fellowship and Worship with them.

Driver Switches Seats To Avoid Arrest

A Summerville man was arrested on Tuesday of this week after he was spotted by a sheriff’s deputy while driving on a suspended license.  According to a report released Wednesday by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was sitting across from a gas station in Lyerly when he noticed a 1993 Chevrolet GMT being driven by James Hammitt of a Farmersville Road, Summerville address.  The deputy then observed Mr. Hammitt switch seats with the passenger in the vehicle.  The deputy knew that Hammitt’s license was suspended, so the deputy followed the vehicle and observed the vehicle turn onto Oak Hill Road without using a traffic signal.  Hammitt was arrested and taken to the Chattooga County Jail for driving on suspended or revoked license.

Police Called To Coach Inn Over Domestic Dispute

According to a report from the Summerville Police Department that was released this week, police responded to a domestic dispute at Coach Inn on July 16th involving a woman who claimed that a man had tried to choke her.

Man Arrested In Tennessee On Charges Of Child Molestation In Georgia

The Rossville Police Department has charged a man with seven counts of child molestation, along with aggravated sodomy. Thirty-six-year-old Joshua Lee Dollmont was arrested in Sequatchie County, Tennessee and then booked at the Walker County Jail. WQCH in LaFayette reported that Rossville Detective Captain Dave Scroggins is handling the investigation. He said his Department had identified two victims who were molested in Georgia “a couple of years ago”… when they were about age 6 at the time. The investigation is ongoing, according to Captain Scroggins.

Three Wheeler Reported Stolen

The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a three-wheeler from a resale shop in Trion.  According to an incident report released by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday of this week Charles Akery told a responding deputy that someone had stolen a custom-built three wheeler that had both rear tires and the carburetor missing. Mr. Akery believes that the three-wheeler was stolen sometime between July 13th and 14th. The incident was turned over to an investigator.

Heritage Auto Group In Rome Under New Owners

Heritage Auto Group – which included Honda, Nissan and Hyundai dealerships – has sold to new owners.   Temporary signage went up earlier this week at the dealerships as Shottenkirk took over the new car lots.  Heritage has been in Rome for over thirty years. The Shottenkirk Auto Group was founded in 1964 and has dealerships in Georgia, Texas, Alabama, Illinois, Iowa and California. Shottenkirk also owns dealerships in Dalton and Cartersville.
