Thieves Attempt To Steal Catalytic Converter

Chattooga County deputies were called to Austin Avenue address in Summerville over the weekend about an attempted theft.  A responding deputy spoke with Lamar Rape who told the deputy that no one had been to the property since the first of the month, but when he came by to check on things it was evident that someone had tried to steal the catalytic converter off a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire.  Mr. Rape showed the deputy that the thieves had left the car on jacks and the converter had saw marks cut into the pipe, but the catalytic converter was still attached to the car.   A report of the incident was placed on file at the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.

Chattooga Family Connection Back To School Bash Tomorrow

The Chattooga Family Connection will be hosting their Back to School Bash tomorrow, Thursday, July 21st from 4 PM – 6 PM.  The event will be held at the Chattooga County Agricultural Center on Middle School Road, off Highway 100 in Summerville.

The organization will be giving out 300-plus book bags to children in the county who attend the event.  The supplies will be past out on a first-come-first-serve basis.  Also, along with the book bags, Chattooga Family Connection will have food boxes from Helping Hands Ending Hunger.  Also, local barbers will be offering free hair cuts.

A bus from the Chattooga County School System will be on hand and allow children to get onboard and hear bus rules.

A variety of stations will be available for children to visit including the Chattooga County Library, Primary Healthcare, Subligna Baptist Church, CareSource, TBRI, Drug Free Chattooga, DFCS and more.
