Chattooga County deputies responded to a call last Thursday about an intoxicated man causing trouble at a residence on Carol Drive in Summerville.  When a responding deputy arrived, others at the residence said that thirty-nine-year-old Joshua Hines was “trying to get people inside the residence to fight or wrestle with him”.

Pedestrian Struck And Killed On Highway 27 In Summerville

UPDATE: Sheriff Mark Schrader says that the victim of Monday night’s fatal accident on Highway 27 near Greeson Street in Summerville was Jeremy Paul Crump, age 45 of Summerville.  The sheriff says that a vehicle traveling north on Highway 27 struck Mr. Crump who was dressed in dark clothing in the outside northbound lane.  The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped after striking Mr. Crump.  The Georgia State Patrol is continuing their investigation.

Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader says that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Highway 27 near Greeson Street in Summerville shortly before 10 PM on Monday night.  The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries.  The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.  Sheriff Schrader says more information will be released later today.

City Of Menlo Auctioning Security Vehicle

The Menlo City Council has decided to discontinue the security service the city has offered for several decades.  As a result, the city is taking bids on the 2008 Ford Crown Victoria cruiser that was used by the security guard.  Bids are being accepted through July 29, 2022.  The vehicle has 143,985 miles and can be viewed at Menlo City Hall, Monday – Friday during regular business hours.  No bids less than $2,500 will be accepted.  For more information, call Menlo City Hall at 706-862-2440.

There’s Hope For Hungry In Summerville Tomorrow

In Georgia, 1 in 7 people live with food insecurity – not knowing where their next meal will come from.  There’s Hope for the Hungry is a Christian ministry, founded in prayer in 2003 and committed to evangelizing and feeding people who are in need.  The group is active in Chattooga County and will be distributing food next week in Summerville.

The City of Summerville is advertising the position of senior meter reader and is currently taking applications for the position.
