A Probate Judge in Northwest Georgia has resigned after reaching an agreement with the Judicial Qualifications Committee regarding allegations leveled against him.

Two Arrested After Assault On Woman In Rome

A confrontation in Rome led to the arrest of two people after a woman was assaulted near East 16th Street.  Floyd County Police say that thirty-three-year-old Shamere Nicole Neal hit the female victim in the lower back with a hammer.  She is then accused of kicking the victim’s car door.  During the assault, an accomplice of Neal’s, identified as thirty-one-year-old Calvin Leonard Jackson, put his hands around the victim’s neck, causing her to lose her breath.  Neal and Jackson were charged with aggravated assault and Neal received the additional charge of criminal damage to property for kicking the victim’s car.  Both were arrested and booked into the Floyd County Jail.
