The Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, commonly known as the WIC program, helps low-income families buy healthy foods Georgia is one of the last states in the nation to switch from the old paper vouchers to electronic purchasing cards.

A Sprayberry Hill, Summerville woman reported the theft of an ATV on Saturday of last week. The complainant told the responding deputy that the green Polaris 500 had belonged to her deceased fiancee. The deputy checked the property for recent signs of the ATV, but couldn’t find any clues. The complainant told the deputy that she would get the VIN number and paperwork to help identify the ATV. Later, the woman forwarded photos and more information to the deputy who entered the information in the statewide crime database. Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader shared a picture of the four-wheeler on social media and said: “This four-wheeler was stolen from a man here in the county that just passed away. Possibly stolen while he was in the hospital, any info greatly appreciated and can be confidential.” The incident remains under investigation.

A Kay Drive, Summerville man reported that his white dog had been shot with a pellet rifle on Friday of last week.

Rome Police arrested a Summerville man at the West Rome Walmart on Sunday of this week after he was found to have suspected methamphetamine in his possession.

The Chattooga County Board of Education will be having a called board meeting on Thursday, July 14th at 5:30 p.m. The purpose of this called meeting is to hear an appeal for a disciplinary tribunal.
