Summerville Police were called to Mohawk Industries in Summerville on Tuesday morning around 3:30 AM when a Gaylesville, Alabama woman called to report that someone had broken two windows on her vehicle.
The Summerville Police Department was called about a case of debit card fraud this week. According to a report from the police department, Charles Weston of a Highway 48 Summerville address told police that someone had made charges on his debit card at Pay-n-Tote in Summerville, along with charges to PayPal, Cashapp and Straight Talk. Mr. Weston identified a possible suspect to police and the incident was turned over to an investigator.
Today is the last day to vote early in the Democratic Primary Runoff Ballot. Voters will be choosing between two candidates for Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Commissioner of Insurance and Commissioner of Labor. Those who voted in the Republican Primary are not eligible to vote in this election. All early voting in Chattooga County takes place at the county registrars office located on Commerce Street just south of the Courthouse in Summerville. The runoff election will be held next Tuesday and all polling places will be open from 7 AM until 7 PM. Also, all absentee ballots must be at the registrars office by 7 PM next Tuesday to be counted.

This evening, Summerville Main Street and the Chattooga County Extension Office will present “Music and Movies in the Park” at Dowdy Park in downtown Summerville. The event gets underway at 7 PM with Butch Reeves performing and a free showing of the movie “Moana” at dusk. Food vendors will be on-site and Summerville Main Street will be selling popcorn at the event. The family event is free and everyone is welcome to come and enjoy music and a movie this evening at Dowdy Park.
