Second Baptist Church in Summerville will have a Gospel Singing / Fundraiser on July 17th at the Chattooga County Civic Center. Featured singers will included Changed Four from Chattanooga, AM/FM Quartet from Summerville, UVIC from Rockmart and is being presented by the Sacrificial Sons. There will be a food truck and raffle. MRS. MARY JEANETTE YOUNG, age 69, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday evening, June 15, 2022, in a Chattanooga health care. She was born in Summervile, Georgia on October 4, 1952, a daughter of the late Benjamin (Doc) Johnson, Sr. and Elizabeth Poovey Johnson. Mary was an active member of Summerville First Baptist Church, where she taught Children’s Sunday School Class and was a faithful member of the Choir. She was retired from the shade room of Mount Vernon Mills, and had a passion for helping anyone, especially disabled and elderly friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by beloved husband, the late David Dwight Young and a brother, the late Benjamin Johnson, Jr.

A Bittings Avenue, Summerville woman reported a burglary to Summerville Police this week. The complainant told a responding officer that someone had entered her apartment and moved the television set and also moved the mattress on her bed. The complainant said that she had $180 in cash under the mattress and it was now missing. The complainant said that whoever had entered her apartment had covered the security camera she has with something before entering the apartment. The incident was turned over to an investigator.
Summerville Police released a report his week about a drug arrest that happened earlier this year in March. According to the report, twenty-nine-year-old Brittany Leanne Stanley was found sleeping in her car at the Circle K gas station on Commerce Street.
