Trucker Hit By Oncoming Vehicle

According to Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader a pedestrian was struck on Highway 27 at Taylor’s Ridge on Tuesday afternoon. The sheriff said that a truck driver stopped to check something on his truck and got out when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The truck driver suffered some broken bones and was transported to the hospital by Redmond EMS. The Georgia State Patrol investigated the incident

Summerville Man Being Held For U.S. Marshal’s

A Summerville man was arrested in Butts County, Georgia last week on outstanding charges and was incarcerated in the Butts County Jail.  According to arrest reports, thirty-four-year-old Kevin Franklin Burrage was being held for U.S. Marshals.  Burrage has a long history of arrests in Northwest Georgia in both Chattooga and Walker Counties, and has also been known to live in the Rock Spring area.  Butts County is located in Central Georgia between Atlanta and Macon.

Ribbon Cutting Today At New Summerville Business

The Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce and Summerville Main Street are hosting a ribbon cutting today for a new business in downtown Summerville.  Ms. Faye’s Serendipity is a boutique offering clothing, clothing accessories, jewelry, shoes, home décor and more.  The business is located at 10098 Commerce Street in Summerville, between Jefferson’s and the commissioner’s office.  The ribbon cutting will take place today at 11 AM.

Local Republicans Meeting Thursday

The Chattooga County Republican Party will meet this Thursday May 5th at 6 p m at the Senior Center on Senior Drive. Guest speakers will include local candidates plus spokespersons from David Perdue’s campaign and others. The public is cordially invited.
