The Chattooga High School Tribe Anglers dominated at the fourth tournament on their Mountain Valley Youth Anglers Tournament Trail. The fishing event was held on Saturday at Weiss Lake in Cherokee County, Alabama out of Yellow Creek Fish Camp.
An undercover LaFayette Police Officer was contacted on social media with a query about buying illegal drugs. The suspected drug dealer, along with the person who drove him to meet with the undercover officer were both arrested.

An embattled animal rescue operation in Gilmer County, Georgia near Ellijay is facing more charges of animal mistreatment and a Trion-area farm has stepped up to take some of the animals that were located at the rescue in Northeast Georgia.
A Trion man has been sentenced to serve fifty-one months in Federal prison after pleading guilty in a child sex case. Eric Daniel Lewis appeared before Judge Charles Atchley in Chattanooga.
The Summerville City Council will meet this evening for their regular monthly meeting for April. The meeting gets underway at 5 PM and will be preceded by a question and answer period with the mayor and council that is open to the public. The council has a lengthy agenda for tonight’s meeting and will be discussing a variety of topics including the relocation of utilities on the Highway 48 bridge that spans Raccoon Creek. The Georgia Department of Transportation is planning to replace the bridge later this year and the city must move utilities, including a high pressure gas line, on the bridge before construction can take place. DeKalb County, Alabama Sheriff Nick Weldon is cracking down on illegal drugs and made two arrests of suspected drug dealers on the same day last week.
WALTER WILLIAM LEROY WITT, age 83, of Trion, Georgia, passed away, with Family by his side, on April 8, 2022. LeRoy proudly served his country in the Army. LeRoy retired from Mount Vernon Mills in September of 2000. He was a proud member of Ridgeway Baptist Church and was a regular attender in his Sunday School class. LeRoy was son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl Witt, and was preceded in death by his first wife Marion Jean Witt, sisters, Anne Bell Mann and Clarice Littlejohn; brothers, J. C. Witt and Raymond Witt; grandson, Jonathan Morris.
