Summerville City Council Meeting This Evening

The Summerville City Council will meet this evening for their regular monthly meeting for April.  The meeting gets underway at 5 PM and will be preceded by a question and answer period with the mayor and council that is open to the public.  The council has a lengthy agenda for tonight’s meeting and will be discussing a variety of topics including the relocation of utilities on the Highway 48 bridge that spans Raccoon Creek.  The Georgia Department of Transportation is planning to replace the bridge later this year and the city must move utilities, including a high pressure gas line, on the bridge before construction can take place.  Tonight’s meeting can be attended virtually online or by telephone.  You can find the complete agenda and instruction on how to attend the meeting virtually below:

Walter William Leroy Witt, Obit (ER)

WALTER WILLIAM LEROY WITT, age 83, of Trion, Georgia, passed away, with Family by his side, on April 8, 2022. LeRoy proudly served his country in the Army. LeRoy retired from Mount Vernon Mills in September of 2000. He was a proud member of Ridgeway Baptist Church and was a regular attender in his Sunday School class. LeRoy was son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl Witt, and was preceded in death by his first wife Marion Jean Witt, sisters, Anne Bell Mann and Clarice Littlejohn; brothers, J. C. Witt and Raymond Witt; grandson, Jonathan Morris.
