Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced on Tuesday, a $5 million fine against Blue Cross Blue Shield as the result of a months-long Market Conduction Examination into 
violations of state laws and Agency rules and regulations by the insurance carrier. Furthermore, Blue Cross Blue Shield may be subject to additional significant fines if the carrier misses certain benchmarks in the corrective action plan agreed to between the Agency and the carrier.
A large forest fire is burning on Lookout Mountain in Walker County. Flames and the smoke from the fire could be seen from Teloga to the Centerpost Community as Walker County firefighters and the Georgia Forestry Commission battled the blaze on Monday. Firefighters will be on the scene again today and will bring in reinforcements with aviation equipment from the Forestry Service. The National Weather Service is reminding Northwest Georgia residents that dangerous fire conditions exist with low relative humidity and windy conditions and say you should NOT be burning outdoors at this time.

A Floyd County Deputy who was arrested last week is now facing additional charges of theft.
A fire at a home on Norton Road over the weekend appears to have been caused by an electrical issue. Summerville Fire Chief Robbie Lathem told WZQZ News on Monday that the call about the fire came in at 8:30 PM last Saturday.

Georgia gas prices continue to decline at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $3.95 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday’s state average was 19 cents less than a week ago, 45 cents more than last month and $1.23 more than this time last year.
Late Saturday night a Bulman Alley, Trion man called for a sheriff’s deputy after he said his neighbor was across the street yelling at him. According to a report released on Monday, when a deputy arrived and spoke with the complainant he said that his neighbor was standing in the yard yelling at him. The deputy went across the street and spoke with the neighbor who said it was all a misunderstanding. The neighbor said he was in his yard yelling at his dogs, not the neighbor across the street.
