Turkey Season Opens This Saturday In Georgia

The Georgia turkey hunting season opens Saturday, April 2, 2022. However, if hunting on public lands, including Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) and National Forest land, the season opens on April 9, 2022. Turkey season ends on May 15, 2022, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division.

Saddle Club Road Bridge Fails DOT Inspection

The Georgia DOT has ordered the closure of a bridge on Saddle Club Road in Chattooga County.  Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry said on Monday that the bridge would be closed effective immediately.

Dr. Richard Smith At Four Mile Baptist April 3rd

 

Four Mile Baptist Church will have Dr. Richard Smith as guest preacher this Sunday, April 3rd @ 11:00am. Dr. Smith is the President of International Baptist Outreach Missions, IBOM.  The ministry of IBOM was founded as a church planting ministry. Dr. Smith will give a PowerPoint presentation @ 10:00am updating  the work going on through IBOM. God has used IBOM in the establishment of 501 churches, and  in Mexico, Kenya, Uganda, Lebanon, Egypt, Philippines, SouthEast Asia and the United States. IBOM has also established a Bible College in each field to train nationals that would found and pastor local churches. City Of Summerville Called Meeting This Evening

The Summerville City Council will hold a called meeting this evening at 5 PM at Summerville City Hall.  The council will be having the final reading and adoption of the fiscal mid-year budget and will also be discussing the city’s liquor license ordinance.  Some council members have expressed that they want to look at the current ordinance that calls for a lottery to award packaged liquor licenses in the city.  Also, the council is expected to approve funds to pay for the annual “Celebrate Independence” fireworks display.  This year, the event will be held on the Fourth of July.  You can find the complete agenda below, and also see instructions on how to attend the meeting virtually.

Bill For Attorney’s Fees Still In Question

In August of last year, Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry hired a high-profile Georgia attorney to represent the county in an ongoing dispute between the commissioner and local manufacturing company Try-Con Industries in Lyerly.   To date, the county government says that they have not received a bill for the attorney’s fees for the legal work done for the county.
