Mrs. Mary Nell “Memaw” Clarke, age 91 of Trion, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
MRS. GERALDINE (JERRY) WEAVER, age 94, of Kirby Street, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 12, 2022, at her residence.

Residents of the Teloga Community are being invited to attend the annual meeting of the Teloga Volunteer Fire Department. The meeting will be held next week on Monday, March 21st. The meeting will get underway at 7 PM at the Teloga Fire Hall, located at 10322 Highway 337. Members of the community are urged to attend.

A Georgia Senate committee wants to turn off the fundraising taps during legislative sessions on some money-raising groups.

The Summerville City Council will be meeting this evening at 5 PM at Summerville City Hall. The council will be discussing several items including a bridge widening project on Highway 48 that will require the city move utilities. Also, the council is being asked to approve a permit for a downtown, outside beauty pageant that will be held in May. A local restaurant is asking for permission to put up a new sign in the historic district. Also, the council will have the first reading of the fiscal mid-year budget and council members will consider a proposal to reduce retirement for city employees from thirty-years to twenty-five years of service.
