Reminder About Work On I-75 Starting Tonight

Starting tonight and running through this Sunday, the Georgia DOT says that crews will be updating signs on I-75.  The work on the overhead signs will take place at night and will affect portions of the right northbound lanes between mileposts 320 and 333.  The exit ramps along the thirteen miles of interstate highway will still be accessible and will not be affected by the work on the signage.  The work will take place between 8 PM and 6 AM each night.

Police Make Drug Arrest During Traffic Stop

Summerville Police arrested a passenger in a vehicle after a traffic stop on Highway 48.  According to a report released late last week, police pulled over a vehicle that was driving erratically.  Officers told the driver that they were concerned about her driving.  The driver, identified as Bonnie Reynolds told officers her license was expired.  As police were talking with the passenger, identified as Courtney Stallings, she admitted to having used methamphetamine that day.   Stallings also turned over a clear plastic bag with suspected methamphetamine to officers.  Stallings was arrested on drug possession charges and booked into the Chattooga County Jail.

County To Open Trash Dumpsite In Menlo

After almost a year without a county convenience center for trash disposal, Menlo area residents will soon be getting a place to take their trash without having to drive all the way to Summerville.
