Grant Will Provide Public Water For Residents On Lookout Mountain

Flintstone, GA – Walker County Water and Sewerage Authority (WCWSA) will receive $20 million to improve access to clean drinking water in unserved and underserved rural communities. Georgia’s Water and Sewer Infrastructure committee selected WCWSA’s proposal as one of 116 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant projects. The state gave priority to applications with broad community impact and local government support.

Woman Reports Forgery Incident To Sheriff’s Office

A Chattooga County woman reported a forgery incident to the sheriff’s office last week.  According to a report released on Wednesday by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, Jan Stoker told a responding deputy that someone had stolen her checks for her bank account at First National Bank.  She said that she received an overdraft notice from the bank and began looking into her account.  In all, Ms. Stoker found twelve checks that had been forged.  The checks added up to $1,465.  The incident was turned over to an investigator.
