SBA Outreach Office In Chattooga County Closing Today

Trion Town Council Meeting This Evening

The Trion Town Council will be meeting this evening for their first monthly session of the new year.  A workshop will take place at 6 PM and the regular monthly meeting will follow shortly thereafter.  The council is expected to pass a resolution honoring former State Senator Jeff Mullis.  Also on the agenda, the council will be discussing a new hire at the Trion Wastewater Treatment Plant.  You can see a full agenda for tonight’s meeting below.  The public is welcome to attend.

Inmates Still In Dade County

Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader told WZQZ News on Wednesday afternoon that the county’s inmates are still being housed at the Dade County Jail.  On Monday of this week, all of the inmates were transferred after a gas leak at the Chattooga County Jail in Summerville.

Kemp Emphasizes Crime Prevention

Summerville Police Investigate Break-In

Summerville Police are investigating a break-in at an apartment on Scoggins Street that happened on Sunday.  The complainant showed police where the rear door to her apartment had been kicked in.  Police saw a muddy shoe print on the door and the right side of the door frame was broken. The complainant also showed the police where her stove had been damaged.  Police took pictures of the shoe print and the damage and turned the incident over to investigators.

99% Of Georgia Voters Had No Issues With Ballots

MIT’s Election Data and Science Lab, in conjunction with the School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Georgia surveyed registered voters on various aspects of the voting process in Georgia. The November 2022 Post-Election Voter Satisfaction Survey showed positive results for Georgia voters.

Georgia Lags Behind In Tobacco Use Prevention

 

Georgia is listed as one of the states with the worst policies to prevent and reduce tobacco use, according to the American Lung Association’s 21st annual “State of Tobacco Control” report, released today. The state earned mostly failing grades on this year’s report.

More Information On Deputy Involved Shooting In Sugar Valley

 

The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Sugar Valley, GA. The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on January 24, 2023. One man was shot and killed. No officers were injured during the incident.
